Let's get entirely technical.

Well, you're the one who's got a kid, you tell me. If we're talking de facto and not de jure, where's the line between looking out for a young'un because you feel responsible and you care, and actually having some sort of title?

On another tack, I am a superhero. Pretty sure meeting your alternate universe offspring is par for the course in our vocation. [Beat.] Or maybe that's just the Summers family. And the Richards, I guess. Given their respective family trees it'll probably be the same thing in a generation or two.

The line is drawn when somebody asks if they're your kid and you say yes.

I haven't met any of my AU children yet. Makes me wonder if I ever had any.

Well, in that case, I guess I'm safe. [He does sound a little wistful, though.]

Do you want to meet your alt-kids? I mean, there could be an alternate universe where you married, I don't know, Big Wheel.

I'm not sure. If someone showed up here and said I was their mother, I suppose I'd be curious.

That's true. It's not like you could smile and nod and ask them to pass the relish. I mean, you could -- but I couldn't. [And didn't.]

It's odd to think that somewhere, in some version of the world, I could be somebody's parent.

Boy, do I know how that feels.

The kind not brought about by metaphysical shenanigans, you mean? Haven't thought about it much. I'm a swinging slinger, footloose and fancy free.
