[ The video doesn't start focused on Yako; rather, it's trained on what appears to be a section of road that simply drops off, like a cliff's edge. Beyond it, stars and planets pinwheel lazily past. ]

Pretty amazing view, isn't it? The laws of physics obviously don't mean much here. I don't think I even recognize any of these...

[ She trails off, as something else comes into view, closer to the camera -- wait, do your eyes deceive you, or does that look like a city made of pastry? ... Yeah, that's exactly what it is. The camera jerks as Yako leans forward. ]

Hey, look at that! Do you think that's all edi--aaaahhHH!

[ Aaand the feed cuts off rather abruptly as Yako slips off the edge of the City's landmass. Welp. ]

[ Her posts are usually more involved and animated, but Yako starts out sounding more contemplative. ]

It's surprising how much time passes before you realize it. Normally, the equinox marks the end of the summer and the beginning of autumn, but it doesn't seem like something that most people pay attention to here.

In Japan, it's a holiday -- a time to spend with your family. [ A beat. ] It's also considered a chance for the living to show their respect for the dead. There's a holiday like that here too, isn't there? I wonder why they all come near the end of the year...

[ Needless to say, her tone's quick to shift to something brighter. ]

...Still, what I really like about this time of the year are the different kinds of food you can eat! Things seem to just taste better once the weather starts getting colder. [ Or maybe that's just you, Yako. ]

I don't think I'm going to get the chance to visit Japan any time soon, but it's a good chance to try out new dishes here. Is there anything you'd recommend?

[ Yako's making this post in the small hours of the morning, and she sounds fairly breathless as she does it, too. She might have impressive stamina for a regular human, but that hardly means she's superhuman, and she's not used to this much exertion.

Still, she's got an important question to ask the Network. ]

Does anyone -- has anyone else been having problems with their powers? I'm not sure if it's just me or -- ow! Stop it, Neuro! [ She yelps, more in surprise than actual pain, and there's the sound of a short scuffle before the comm feed cuts out for a few minutes.

When the post resumes, her voice is a little more distant, like she's holding the communicator further away from her. It was probably meant to be locked, but she's so frazzled she's forgotten to set it properly. ]

Mister Gilbert, Raven hasn't been acting unusual, has he? Ugh, Neuro's been worse than usual all night...

[ And the feed clicks off. ]

[action for anyone who might be hanging out on the city roofs at night] )

[ ooc; Yako has been canon-swapped to Pandora Hearts and is under the mistaken impression that she's a part-time vigilante relying on her supernatural bird-demon's powers to fight crime. ]

[ Yako looks a little worse for wear, clothes rumpled and hair askew. Her gaze, directed at the camera, is steady, even though she has to speak loudly enough for her voice to be heard over the muffled sirens in the background. ]

NOHoPE's power dampening system has just been deactivated. It will remain offline for about another-- [ Her eyes flick, checking an unseen watch. ] -- fourteen minutes and thirty-two seconds. The entire building has been physically locked down -- including the wards -- so we need assistance from anyone with teleporting or phasing abilities to move people out ASAP.

[ She pauses to take a breath, still speaking calmly but urgently. ]

Once the system reboots itself, the main entrances should be clear, but the power dampeners will resume effect. There are other ImPorts in the building, and I don't know where they are right now, but they'll probably need all the help they can get. I won't be able to override the dampeners again.

Fourteen minutes.

[ That about covers the essentials in as few words as possible, so with nothing left to say, she just shakes her head and ends the feed. ]

[ Yako's obviously in her MAC apartment, hair pulled back away from her face with a kerchief and still wearing an apron, though she's kicking back on her couch instead of actually cooking at the moment. ]

I'd like to welcome everyone who's arrived in the City over the past month. I haven't really been using the network much, so I haven't had the chance to greet everyone, but hopefully I can be better about that.

[ She pauses, like she's mulling something over, before continuing. ]

Also, since people here come from all over the place, we must have had the chance to eat all kinds of things. What's your favorite food? Is there anything at home that you can't find in the City, or vice versa? What's the strangest thing you've ever eaten?

[ She looks like she might be about to launch into more questions, voice rising with more obvious passion for the subject, but she's interrupted by the sound of an oven timer going off. Her face visibly lights up before she hastily turns the feed off. ]

[ There's a girl smiling brightly at the camera, apparently not perturbed in the least. She seems to be making the post from the inside of a mostly-empty restaurant, though just at the edge of the camera's field of view, there's the edge of what looks like an impressive stack of plates. ]

So today is my birthday, though it's still a few more months before I turn twenty back home. [ There's an empty plate in front of her, and she sighs, putting the spoon she'd been holding down. ]

Trying to keep track of it would probably just get more confusing, so I decided I might as well celebrate it! Ah, could I have another--?

[ The last is directed off-screen, as she raises a hand, and in doing so she knocks the communicator askew, tilting the camera feed up to show not just one stack of plates, but several. Actually, it looks pretty much like all the plates in the restaurant. Faintly, someone may be whimpering please, please stop in the background, but she doesn't seem to notice it when she turns back to the camera to give it a winning smile. ]

Anyway, I've never been to another universe before, but let's see if I've got this right: we've been brought here by something called the Porter, most of us have superpowers, and nobody knows any way of getting us home. Does that about cover it? [ Thoughtfully, she presses a thumb to her mouth, licking off a trace of sauce. ]

If I'm going to be here a while, I guess I'll start by introducing myself. I'm Yako Katsuragi, former high school girl detective, and currently unemployed! I probably need to begin looking for a job, so if you've got any suggestions on where I should start looking, I'd appreciate it.

[ ooc; handy dandy permissions post this way! ]
