[ PRIVATE to NICK FURY and BOBBI MORSE ]

Hector Peck might be a dead end. I don't think he's involved at all with Vulcanus or that New Vesuvius city. He's just an editor for a newspaper here and keeps himself busy with that. Nothing out of the ordinary with his schedule or work.

[ /end private ]

[ When Gil speaks up, he sounds as if he's slightly congested. ]

I believe Raven has been ported out. If she had any previous or future engagements to attend to I'm sorry, but I don't think she'll be showing up. I haven't heard from or seen her around the house since before some of us were ported to New Vesuvius.

I'm not sure what to do yet about her belongings. It seems too soon to pack them away somewhere so they aren't lying around the place, doesn't it? A bit rude, too... [ He sighs. It's hard to finish cleaning the place when he's caught in a tiny dilemma like this!! ]

It's always going to be impossible to predict how long before people return. [ A beat. ] If they do.

[ Followed by another pause, as if he may add something to that thought. ]

Ah, never mind.
professorlionface: (I find myself brimming with thoughts.)

[IT'S OKAY we'll just call it Vaguetorian Era.]

Yes, but not an unheard of displacement. I have a friend from about the same time. [He almost considers offering Gil a job teaching math, just as a joke.]
professorlionface: (I'll take your word for it.)

[He pauses, as if he's recalculating.] She is, isn't she. In fact, I recall her projecting her era onto a part of the City a couple years ago.

But I was referring to Cross Marian, if you happen to know him.
professorlionface: (You're sure about that?)

[Completely oblivious, Hank keeps talking about Gemma.] I'm still weather it was an illusion or pure reality warping. I'm afraid magic isn't exactly my forte.

Nonetheless, it was quite convincing, right down to the discomfort of the shoes. [Thanks, digitigrade legs.] I took a date there, myself.
professorlionface: (It can't be that bad.)

[He can't fault you on it, Gil, the terminology was always a little awkward for him too.]

Well, it was still the early stage of our relationship at that point. But you could that say by the time we left, she was.
professorlionface: (So it would seem.)

[Gil...]

Is it? I think i's a bit inevitable, considering things. Those of us who've been around a while are bound to feel lonely every now and then. It's the same sort of impulse that would drive someone to seek companionship elsewhere. Even when you know it may be temporary.

Well, not the ones with a shred of decency, at least!

[Because Cross...]

But no, I see what you mean. I suppose our attitudes have grown a bit more...casual since. It's just love, after all. It isn't the end of the world.
professorlionface: (How very interesting...)

[He did that one purpose, few people are really that brave, Hank included.]

Never gave it a shot before? I guess we have a tendency to romanticize romance more, as silly as that phrase sounds, when our experience is more limited. The truth, when you get right down to it, is all of us are looking for something.

All of us are lonely to some degree.
professorlionface: (Blah blah blah.)

I think some of us have better ways of coping with, or even dispelling it, [And some, like Hank himself, are better at acting like it isn't there.] but without them they'd be in the same boat.

Some of them don't feel it because they don't feel alone. That's why we enter relationships, even under circumstances like these, they're looking for that same feeling.
