As the audio begins, anyone with a good ear or paying close attention will notice there isn’t complete radio silence between the time the feed turns on and when a woman begins speaking. There’s a passing wind that lightly filters in through the speaker – and are those wings flapping in the distance? ]

Okay, I get it; Lachesis does not appreciate a hands on approach. Does she really call herself that? I guess she doesn’t get memos, but I thought I washed my hands of this alternate universe mess a while ago and I’m seriously not interested in being apart of it.

The City... that’s original. [ A light scoff. ] Should have stuck with New York.

If anyone from the JSA or the League is—oh. One second. [ The audio cuts for about five minutes before it’s switched back on and Peej sighs. ] That was a close call.

Sorry, as I was saying: All-stars or JSA, Leaguers, Titans, heck even Legionnaires ... this is Power Girl. I think I’ve gotten the gist of the situation, but if there’s anything else I need to be briefed on get in contact with me ASAP.

[ Not that her voice will betray how she really feels, but she really hopes she’s not stuck in another alternate universe by herself again. ]

I know. [ In that moment, she averts her gaze, realizing how selfish she's being.

And right off the bat, too. ] ... Sorry. I just can't believe after all this time I've finally found you and...

[Without thinking, she hugs Karen again.]

You won't lose me. We're in this together, no matter what. This world needs us.

[ Her form is rigid and uncomfortable for a split-second before she relaxes. It's more than unnerving -- it's foreboding. Something bad is going to happen and she can feel it in her steel-lined stomach. ]

I'll do my best. I don't think I could leave it as is.

[ She might miss home already and desperate wants to get back, but old experiences have led her to be less than willing to abandon a place in need. ]

We'd be foolish to think there isn't a way home simply because we haven't found it yet.

[Pulling back, she smiles. Discomfort is gone. She sees her friend and she feels hopeful and happy.]

We have a lot to catch up on, but first things first. Where are you staying?

[ She's a mixture of feelings at the moment; plenty good and bad, with just a dose of guilt that she's feeling either. She no longer wants to wake up tomorrow and discover this had all been a dream. ]

The MAC? That place with all the chickens.

Which by the way: why are there chickens?

It's a very long story tinged with salmonella.

[And there's a little chortle, even though this is a serious matter. Where Karen is staying, not the chickens.]

I could set you up someplace if you'd like. Or you could stay with us a few days.

Us? [ Although it's a generous offer, it's the pace they're moving at that brings forth some discomfort. ] No, it's okay. I mean, not that I want to live in farm-like building, but I'll manage.

Us, as in myself and Misfit. [Not exactly a great pitch, but. Yeah.] If you're sure you can manage. Oh, who am I kidding, of course you can manage. You're Power Girl!

Oh, right.

[ Misfit did mention that, but she doesn't know the girl at all and she would feel even more awkward with that connection to Barbara Gordon of all people. Nothing would ever change or settle the bad blood between them. ]

I'll be fine, but thanks, Helena. [ She means it. ] Besides, I've got an old friend waiting for me to get back and feed.
