[If anybody tries to check the source/IP of this posting, they'll wind up in a dead end. The trail literally dries up with Aoi's network account. The comm number attached is only the account number associated with it, and gives no indication of being from an actual physical device.]

"I had hoped a whole helluva lot that my body would've come back by now. I didn't die, not really, but I figured that since she brought everybody else back mostly, she'd do the same for me, even though I'm not really dead. I don't mind as much not having a body, and maybe this is natural. Most people in my time with full electronic brains eventually transfer to prosthetic bodies. I was just a hold over on account of being old fashioned and not wanting to. Maybe I should look into a prosthetic body. Maybe."

"Anyway, I'm getting distracted. I had a question. I want to know if there are laws for killing someone's body when they don't really die. I suppose it doesn't matter as much since it isn't as though that kind of thing would be a big deal to most people here, and I never really thought it would matter as much to me like that, but I guess that's what people mean when they talk about this place being very surprising. I want to know what will happen to HABIT and if we should consider maybe thinking about new laws to handle situations like his. I suppose I could ask the mayor. I think I will even though he blocked me out of the mainframe very rudely and all."

"... Oh, and Mister Bradbury. I think I can go back to work now. That's not accurate, I can't really go anywhere, but I think I can take over my job again. Assuming the mayor won't block me out like that again."

[The video clicks on to show a couple talking. Aoi is no where near the image. They're young, probably in their early twenties, sitting happily in Central Park on a sunny afternoon just enjoying the grass and each other's company. The image holds on them for about 30 seconds before it refocuses and their faces are covered by matching Laughing Man icons with spinning text. Finally, after another minute, Aoi speaks. His voice reverberates oddly, and seems immune from the ambient noise of the park, almost superimposed on top of it, actually.]

"What I've been wondering lately, if you really want to hear about it. I've been wondering about conversations that people have with each other. A lot of people do it, so I decided to spend the day watching them. I've never been very comfortable talking to people face to face, which I suppose explains a lot of my actions in the past, but people do it a lot so I figure that I must be in the minority."

[The couple continues to talk, the woman leaning in slowly, laughing.]

"What I've been wondering lately is whether or not people talk to other people on here because they want to, or because they feel like they should? Would you talk to other people if you didn't think you needed to? Do you like talking at all? I don't think I do, but I do it sometimes. I don't know why."

[And with that, the icons vanish and the image looses focus until abruptly, it cuts off altogether.]

[The feed clicks on to show Aoi, red hunting cap and all, seated at the desk of his MAC room. He looks completely the same as he did in February. The room is dusty, and there’s a stack of books in the corner that look like they haven’t been touched in about that long. When he speaks, his lips don’t move and his voice has no reverberation, like it’s being transmitted over the communicator rather than spoken into the mic. After 30 seconds, he vanishes entirely from the video and a Laughing Man icon appears hovering over his spot.]
”It took me a while to get used to the new setup, but I think now that I am I like it. She’s outdone herself this time, she’s restructured the entire network. I thought I broke it and I was sorry for that, but as it turns out, she was just too much for me. That’s alright, though. Everybody needs a challenge, and I guess this one is as good as any. I needed a break from reading anyhow.”

[The icon flickers in and out of existence, eventually the JD Salinger quote around the edge begins to spin.]

“Hello again, City. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? The timestamp on these entries makes me think it’s been a while.”

[The icon vanishes, and Aoi reappears bit by bit, starting with his red hunting cap and fluffy duffle coat.]

“Have you all been less phony this time?”

[He tilts his head to the side, as if to make the question more obvious. Even though there’s no other visible signs of him moving, the feed cuts.]
