[Prim's forehead is creased in thought, when she turns on the comm. Her eyes are unfocused, as if her mind is still far away, and she fidgets a little on the hard park bench. Various birds have flocked around her, though she doesn't seem to notice them. They make no noises, but simply watch her.]

I don't understand. Why don't people like this place? There's food, and shelter, and lots of animals. You can go out in the woods and no one stops you, and you don't have to poach to get food. Or put your name in for the reaping. The Capitol doesn't exist, yet, so no one kills children.
Plus, there's bread and cakes and candies, and cheese, and we can even leave the City if we want. Without getting our tongues cut out.

I like it here, though. Even if I didn't get to bring Buttercup. [She misses her cat, though she tries not to think of it. Going home won't solve that problem. Not for her.]

I know it's odd. Everyone has powers, and magic, and people don't like us. But it feels safe...

[A small head tilts, beak facing the screen. Prim waddles forward a little, then stops.]

[She waits a moment, used to people freezing when presented with a talking duck.]

Do lots of importers transform? Into animals, I mean - because a lot of people seem surprised when I talk to them.

...I'm not usually a duckling. I'm a girl. But my sister always calls me one, and the importer made me that way.

It's really fun. Though I don't like all the odd looks.

[There is a giant glowing duckling on your screen, city. Don't worry, she's not radioactive. In fact, she'll heal anything she touches. That might be why the walls are giving way quicker than her bones. Unfortunately, this healing ability applies to plants, viruses, beasts, and just about anything else that comes near her....

After a moment, the creature speaks]

'I'm sorry for the damage, but... I don't think I can move.

I don't know why I'm a duck, either. [She hesitates.] I'm Prim.

ooc: Yep; Prim's powers are going a liiiittle bit out of cotrol.

[There's a momentary pause, in which Prim just stares at the handheld device. It seems tiny in her hand - the buttons too small; or her form too large. She doesn't know. She just knows that this isn't...

...Is this what she  would have grown up to look like?

After a moment she pulls herself together. Closing her eyes and speaking very carefully, to make sure it comes out right.]

My name is Primrose Everdeen. I'm looking for my sister; Katniss.

I think there's something's wrong with me.

[The video clicks on to a closeup - a nose, a strand of blonde hair; it should be fairly obvious that the woman holding this machine doesn't know what she's doing with it. After a moment, though, the device pulls away - revealing the thirteen  year old Prim more clearly. Scared but trying not to show it, brow furrowed as she tried to figure out what had happened. ]

Hello? [She taps the screen briefly, flipping it about briefly before studying it again.] Is there anybody there? I don't know where I am... [She remembers a noise -  a flash - and then...]

I'm Prim. I need to find my sister. Katniss. [She knows she may have to move quickly once she says this; too many people would like to get their hands on the mockingjay's sister, she's sure... but anything she could pick up...]
