A little sad when Father's Day is coming up, and there's no sacrificial goat to give. Not because there's a lack of supply, obviously, but some rituals are meant to be done with father and daughter alone. As much as I loathed the man for trying to control my life, and the fact that he reminded me over and over again that he hoped for a boy- he was my dad and the only one I had. He tried to give me a normal demonic life, even when I was a half breed.

Really, he always had my best interest at heart.. even if it meant trying to make me marry a man I hated to fix a mistake that he made, and get me to suck out the soul of a man I wanted to keep around. I guess after about a year, it's easy to kind of miss that nagging and constant pushing. I mean, at first the lack thereof was great. But it's the little things. It showed he cared, right? Funny how you don't realize that until you've been without one for a long period of time.

So no sacrificial goat. I still think I need to do something for him though. Call it the plight of a loyal daughter.

Because he's the Devil, and call me paranoid but I think if I skip it, the evil forces of this dimension will exact revenge somehow.

Did you do anything last year?

That seems pretty superstitious.

Well, life back home was full of superstitions- most of which played out, so I guess you can just call me a superstitious person.

It's not like he's dead. It's also not like evil doesn't exist here.

Dead or not doesn't matter. The evil here never really hides its face; You'd have seen something.

You just need to ruin it for me don't you?

I'm a little soured on them.

Oh come on. I admit a lot of the human holidays are idiotic but not even one? Some you get a day off... others is an excuse to drink... most of the time presents or food are involved...

I celebrate my own kinds of holidays. [ He pauses. Well, he did. But he can't let arbitrary dates that add up to his satisfaction affect him anymore. ] Not one, not two, not any. There are plenty of other people around to care in my stead.

So what's the next holiday coming up? Fourth of July? ...If I'm back in town we can go hate it together if you want. Or would that be too festive?

Better yet, we could both leave town to avoid whatever inevitably blows up.

As long as we're at a comfortable distance to "ooh" and "ahh" at the mushroom cloud.

We could go to New Jersey.

Wow. Blow up or go to Jersey.

Both equally appealing.
