If one's eyesight is extremely keen, one might notice blood on the back of his neck. I've spoken with other vampires here before during my previous stay. I'd appreciate it if you - or any vampires with which I have not conversed with yet - would mind indulging me in a conversation about your origins, lifestyle, and abilities. It seems that every one I meet here is so vastly different that the term 'vampire' seems so ... unnecessary, when not one vampire here is the same as another.

There are some that, like myself, are able to go out in the sunlight without burning to a crisp or catching fire. And there are even some that have fleshy skin and a distinct lack of 'supernatural' abilities. Yet they are still considered vampires. Even the ones that do not feed on the blood of other living animals.

I am merely curious. [ He cocks his head to the side. ] And the conversation need not occur over these devices. [ The feed ends quickly, the last frame only a flash of color. ]

My adoption of the term is largely for cultural purposes. I rarely use it in describing myself beyond drawing the parallel for the sake of other party's comprehension.

Though I would have imagined feeding to be the most basic requirement. Can the concept remain applicable otherwise?

I'm not sure. If all other specifications fit - undead, immortal, superhuman abilities, and the like - then yes, I suppose it would remain applicable. Or for vampires that do not consume anything at all and survive on some unseen sustenance.

Though I admit that it is difficult for myself to wrap my mind around such a concept.

Of course, in our native settings, the conditions seem entirely non-negotiable. To arrive here and encounter such a variety of exceptions, it may necessitate a redefinition of the traits which form the very foundation of our common status.

Perhaps those which are recurring while not being universal can be noted as well. There could be something in any overlap.

Perhaps. I'm surprised I haven't run across any previous research into something of this manner here. For all walks of life, really. There seem to be so many 'superheroes' with different abilities, yet none seem to research what it is that makes some people gain power of fire while others control water.

[ He grins slowly. ] Or maybe nobody's cared all that much about it. Too many people take things for granted, believing what they're told. It's obvious in their thoughts.

I've heard them discuss these things in class on occasion, but the variety of origins which can lead to the development of abilities which transcends the existent standard would likely complicate any research.

Some are natural born, others gain through other means, and still more are granted abilities upon entry to this universe.
