We had dinner once, a year or so ago. She's a very smart girl. Despite our disappointment over her disappearance, I haven't the slightest doubt that she'll have landed on her feet.

But is it so wrong to want to make the most of what we have, while we're here? Or is that just ... playing into her mind games?

Your alternative is, of course, to dwell on the facts of your abduction. I think either scenario gives her ample opportunity to glean some amount of sadistic pleasure.

I cannot say for certain which is better, Peter. Only that I have always found it easier to disengage.
