I guess back home we at least had the certainty that there was some finality to it. ...With some exemptions, I guess. With the way things work here, it leaves a lot more questions, since there's a good but not definite chance that we'll return. And if we do, will we be the same? Will we remember what we'd already learned here? Will we feel the same way about everything?
That said, I wouldn't think it's entirely fair if his feelings about your experience kept you quiet about it. They're worth taking into account for how you might approach this, but there's still yours on the table, too.
