Well, that's that, I suppose.

[There's a pause. She sounds tired.]

I've been gone less than a month, according to the papers. That's how long it takes for other people to move into my house.

[Her tone shifts— she realizes she's being unfair, but she's had a bad day and doesn't really care.]

Also, Matt, we're out of milk.

A month here, yes, but it's an isolated timeframe that doesn't account for any time experienced outside of it. Therefore, the question is, how long was it at home?
professorlionface: (Can't be overly concerned at the moment!)

Pithy.

It often tends to be. I myself would have returned sometime around your exit, I think, after an entire year's absence. Anything along those lines?
professorlionface: (Might I just add...)

I can relate with that one, having been the past for so long. And now that I'm not in that position so often, some things have to be handled more sensitively. You don't just tell someone the fate they're about to suffer.

Are we sure that's what we're working with here, however? Couldn't hurt to compare notes.
professorlionface: (I'll have to think about this.)

The hammers, of course. [And the whole thing with Bucky... Best not to touch on that.]

Does Houston ring a bell for you at all?

[Hank always ends up mistakenly believing a Captain America is dead while he's in the City.]

As many things tend to be lately. But that was our most recent mission, from my perspective.

Understandable, given the circumstances. I really should put thought into the same thing, what with the school to take care of, now.
professorlionface: (I'll explain this slowly.)

As they tend to be. I imagine I'll forget to have the idea occur to me, upon my eventual return.

I had a student who once entertained the thought of keeping notes of what he learned here, that they might potentially return with him, if kept on his person.

He's on his third iteration since, now, and has never once recalled what I mean when I bring up the topic.

[He lets out a small chuckle.] Well, that's certainly one way to go about it! Would you take such an extreme measure, if you thought it would help?

Rather not know things you shouldn't? Preserve the security of the timeline?

Fair enough. It wouldn't do unless you could have them removed, or at least covered somehow.

False skin, perhaps.
professorlionface: (It's really quite simple.)

Not exactly, the purpose of the tattoo would be to, hypothetically I must stress, carry information across the dimensional divide, so it would really be more for your own viewing than anyone else's.

Assuming it even worked, which I find unlikely.

Well, at least until you eventually happened to discover the layer of false skin, which, depending on how well it's designed, would be most effective if unnoticed.

But no, it really wouldn't work in any practical manner.
