This is probably a strange question, ah... is anyone familiar with the procedure for guardianship? If anyone does, I would appreciate a moment of your time. Thank you.
[ He clears his throat, trying to hide the slight embarrassment in his voice. ]
[ PRIVATE to CHRISTINE STANFORD, DARIA MORGENDORFFER, JULIAN KELLER, KURT WAGNER, NATASHA ROMANOV, NELSON GARDNER, PETER PARKER, YAKO KATSURAGI, ZATANNA ZATARA ]
A — [ Gil cuts himself off there, struggling to find the correct word for this. Friend? Acquaintance? Ally? Work partner? ]
Someone from my world has shown up recently. She's still getting a lay of the City and this era, but she's requested to meet some of you in person. We'll be holding a dinner Sunday evening at six o'clock at the house.
If you need the address I'll provide it. [ A beat. ] And let me know if you won't be able to attend.
( ooc: due to the limit on filters, even if your character is friends with gil and wasn't mentioned above you can still comment and he'll likely invite them. he's just shy with some folk!! also, sharon/
auntyquated will be replying in here as well. )

[ That is so random, he thinks. ]
Ah, I think I've gotten it by now, but thank you.
voice;
It's just a ridiculous hurdle your society's put on the young, as far as I was able to tell, yet no less necessary to do anyway.
[ you're welcome for the irrelevant information and opinion, gil. ]
I'm sure Matthew would have known quite a bit about it, but he's gone now, I hear. Though it doesn't seem you needed it either way.
voice;
So you're from a world where what constitutes an adult is different than here. [ A nod, even if she can't see it. ] It's different where we're from, but I suppose I can understand why they have some of these laws here.
[ But then he pauses, since she clearly indicated she's not human. ]
"Human"?
voice;
[ but she isn't here to rant about the connotations of the word "alien". ] It isn't so much that what constituted [ because the past tense is important ] an adult is different so much as that it was entirely irrelevant to one's affairs on the planet's surface, given that the age of majority wasn't celebrated by becoming a legally viable individual so much as it involved being banished to join the imperial fleet off-planet.
What sort of differences have you encountered?
1/2
Imperial... fleet?
[ Off-planet? ]
voice;
[ And form political connections, etc. It's all actually long and complicated and PH's world build is kind of terrible sometimes. ]
voice;
[ she has literally no idea, just your average self-sufficient sixteen year old wishing adults pitied and pandered a little less often. ] And how far off would that be?

[ He doesn't feel Sharon is the type to feel overwhelmed by loneliness. She gave up a lot to be Eques' contractor and has had to keep from high society's eye often at social events.
Or maybe...
He's never had to sit and think about how she feels at all. ]
But the Lady Sharon Rainsworth is also a strong young woman.
[ She's stronger than most would expect, that's for sure. ]
voice;
[ she wonders if that's the same sort of thing people say about her. she's strong, she can obviously make it own her own. kanaya certainly puts enough effort into giving the impression, but she's never really believed it. somehow the idea that a complete stranger may potentially have the same problem doesn't sit right with her. ]
Don't take it for granted. Don't let yourself think less of her capabilities, either, but know that if she trusts you enough to allow the question of guardianship be fielded, you may be more important to her than you realize. Especially here, in a strange world that doesn't seem to fit the expectations of the one you left behind.
voice;
I already said I won't do such a thing. She's a much stronger and capable person than I...
voice;
That may be in normal circumstances, but you'll be the veteran now. There are things you've come to now here that she won't yet be privy to, and your help can make that transition much easier.
voice;
[ He exhales, quiet and soft. ]
I won't let her go through this alone.
[ There are a number of people he feels indebted to for helping him return to Oz's side and protecting him, Sharon being one of those important people. He might be a good for nothing, but he'll try his damn hardest for anyone in his world who shows up.
Who isn't an enemy, of course. ]
voice;
That's generally how we best survive here.
voice;
[ He knows Kanaya is right, it's merely a little daunting that someone who sounds a bit younger than him is lecturing him on all this. Then again, he probably needed it. ]
Thank you, Miss...?
voice;
Maryam, but Kanaya is probably better. It's should only fair to wish you luck from here, shouldn't it, Mister...?

But more than that, I'm afraid it may be overly formal in a context that isn't.

[ Curiosity, though... ]
Have you found it easy to adapt...?
