Are you sure? I have noticed many of the young women of this world don't enjoy being called "Miss", but it does seem so impolite and awfully casual.

Well, for one thing, I think "Ms." might apply better from a technical perspective of the etiquette, given what you would now know from our discussion. [ it's more adult that way, which is all that really matters to her. ]

But more than that, I'm afraid it may be overly formal in a context that isn't.

Different in which way? The general differences are numerous enough that it's difficult to really compare some things, honorifics included.

Well, I've had time. It's been over two years since I first arrived, and I had little choice but to learn as much as I could to make some kind of life here. It may not have been easy all the time, but what could I do other than adjust to the differences?

It does seem at time this world is always changing itself.

Is it really that it's changing, or simply that we're noticing things about it we hadn't before?

[ He's silent for a moment. ]

I've never considered it that way before.

For a place so large and relatively new to us, I think it's somewhat inevitable. There's no way to understand its entirety in a limited amount of time, but certain new revelations can alter our perception of the whole.

I suppose it requires admitting just how little you knew from the start, how much you had assumed.

Ah, well... [ Sheepishly: ] I have to admit I didn't understand this world at all when I arrived. I still don't to some degree...

That's alright, when I first arrived I was surprised to find it was still here, even with my lack of knowledge regarding all of its peculiarities.

How much work have you put into learning since?

Well, it's a bit complicated as often we find ourselves distracted by the strange things that happen. I suppose I could do a lot better than I have so far...

I suppose it's a matter of managing your priorities when those distractions aren't occurring. Though the need only underlines further when you have others to be mindful of, I would imagine.

[ He falls quiet again, but he smiles a bit on his end. ]

[ She's reminded him he does need to keep his priorities in order, something he's been advised a long time ago. An important and defining moment in his life he feels ashamed to have nearly forgotten here. ]

It's nothing really to be thankful for. Just, you know, that we must always remember what's important.
