[If you're awake, you might notice a buzz of static from your communicator, followed shortly by a ringing laugh and everyone's favourite flanged lady.]

I've often heard that the ability to adapt to a new situation is key. You have changed, I have changed, just like you... I think I'll treat myself to a bit of a belated birthday present, if you don't mind! Let's see how the pieces deal with a few adjustments.

[If you weren't awake before, you are now. Every affected character experiences an electric shock, strong enough to jolt them out of whatever they might be doing. Those still wearing their communicators will get it stronger, enough to really hurt. Those with very obvious powers (those who have more trouble looking human) might even black out for a second. When the jolts stop, nothing feels different. There's no blatant shift in how you feel, no glaring mistakes with the way the world works. You feel the same as always.]

[Until you try to use your power, that is. It might be right away, it might be tomorrow morning, it might be in a few days. But rest assured, that's not going to work the way you think.]

[he doesn't answer immediately; Alastair might here one last kick to the far wall (the one -not- adjacent to Saitou's room).]

*as he enters* I know, I was just being polite. Didn't want you throwing something at me if I just walked in.

What the hell is going on? Something happen to you, too? *he looks only slightly worried - a glance tells him Kiryu looks more or less normal and healthy*

[Kiryu just laughs, a good deal more unhinged than it has been lately.]

Probably smart~

I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine. For now. Goddamn dragon. Nothing happened to me.

[He pauses, his hand clenched around his forearm where his mark is.]

There's another Signer.

*pardon while his relief becomes wide-eyed surprise in an instant*

W-what? Does that mean another one got 'ported in?

No. I wish.

[he's quiet for a long minute, just pacing]

Someone who definitely wasn't a Signer before is one now.

[he laughs again]

And apparently Ruka-chan isn't one anymore.

Whoa whoa, wait. *gesturing* Let me get this straight...

Ruka's not a Signer but someone else is...the Sign jumped people? Is that possible?

*he doesn't like that laugh, not one bit*

NO. It shouldn't be.

And it switched to someone I know...who I'm already...

It should only happen if the fucking Crimson Dragon is around. And if it's around, so are our Gods, and...they weren't before. I know they weren't before. He wasn't there; I just died.

[he laughs again, a slightly panicked note slipping in]

At least it wasn't the Tail.

*he'll be stalking Wasp's post soon enough himself*

Hang on - calm down. *he goes over and takes Kiryu by the arms, trying to get him to focus and not pace* Is there any way...I mean, can you tell if any of the gods are here? I mean, just to be sure. It sounds like it's bigger than that, I was just talking to my boss and something's wrong.

[Kiryu doesn't really fight that, but he won't be looking right at Alastair. He'd rather Alastair doesn't see how scared he really is.]

If he was here, I'd probably be dead by now. What I've done...

[He takes in a deep breath, trying to calm down.]

I'd feel it. I can feel when they're around, because of what I am. I can't feel them yet.

*and he's steadfastly holding on, not too tight, but letting Kiryu know he's not going anywhere*

It's all right, then. If you can't sense anything, you're safe. Right? It's okay...

*nod* Yeah, I saw that too. Something's up with Stark, he wanted me to hack around and send him anything I dig up about it. And he's a technopath - so something is really wrong if he can't do that kind of computing himself.

[Kiryu's grip on his arm gets a little tighter, but he nods and stops fidgeting quite so much.]

That's...weird. Did he say why? You'd think he'd just do it all himself.

He said something about "it's gone." I'm gonna try to hack a few encryptions and see if anyone else is saying the same thing. Maybe he's lost his superpower somehow, I don't know...maybe that's why he can't just insta-trace anything on the comm... *making a face while he thinks out loud*

...don't worry about it. That's my business. If I hear anything that relates to Ruka's Sign, though, I'll let you know. 'Kay?

[He nods again, not really looking like he's paying close attention to that even if he is.]

[he laughs again, definitely still unhinged but quieter than before]

All right. I might try to talk to her myself, though who knows whether she'll actually want to talk back. Thanks.

*he moves his hands to Kiryu's shoulders to rub them gently, in a very casual sort of comfort*

Yeah, don't be surprised if she doesn't, even if you're the only other Signer in the City right now.

I'm gonna go see what I can find out, just how widespread this is. If you're all right, and I feel fine, let's hope it stays that way.

[Kiryu relaxes a little, probably as much as he will until he really knows what's going on, which will probably be a while.]

Heh, maybe she'll just be so surprised I'm even trying to speak to her that she'll slip up and talk anyway.

Yeah. [His grip tightens again, probably bruising his arm.] That's probably a good idea. I think I might try to sleep and worry in the morning.

Ow ow...hey, watch it. *he noticed* You need to relax, and not just about this. Go. Sleep. I'll be up late online, I'll pass you anything important. *with a healthy slap on the arm, no it's not really retaliation for the bruise*
