We need to restore the full meaning of that old word, duty. It is the other side of rights.

[VOICE POST. Forward-dated to 2:30 as I have to be at work then. I will tag replies until I leave, and resume when I return (as long as it remains ICly feasible for him to have replied).]

Effective at 4PM today, I will be turning myself in for the murder of the being known as Starscream. I... I must place my trust in the system I have worked to rebuild, and allow it to serve its purpose.

[Something faintly distant and detached creeps into his tone.]

...No man can be above the law, however devoted he may otherwise be to the duty of upholding it.

[ He can hear such things, but Tony can't help but get in the last word. ]

Perhaps they were, yet you have made no efforts to hide that you dislike me. Yet you were still willing to stop him. Obviously, I was fully capable of taking care of myself, yet how were you supposed to know this? I trust that you wouldn't have let me plummet to my death, if it were to appear that I wouldn't have been able to take care of myself.

Being one who fights for what is right, a hero, is inherently selfish in a way. I don't do it just because it's the right thing to do. I don't know anyone who does it simply for that, as opposed to a guilt complex, or to uphold an ideal.
