Guys-I was down in the red light district on the drug case and some punk managed to disarm me. Threw my comm under a bus and-

I'm ok! Don't get me wrong, I've just...been distracted.

[When the video flicks on it is considerably clearer then previously. One can see that the man sitting in front of it looks pale-but excited.

When the image widens, you can see an array of tools, parts, and various devices. Hoffman has transformed his apartment into a workshop.

Grinning like a maniac breathes deep]

....Can everybody see me? I broke this yesterday and uh-I fixed it but..uh..

[He hesitates]

I bought a car! I paid 300 dollars for it. No kidding!

Because I knew that it needed a...new..

[Here he struggles for a moment, unable to quantify it.]

Well. Uh...I fixed it. Also, to the buick owner parked outside the MAC, you...should consider taking your car in. Sooner the better.

What'd I miss? [....there is a click offscreen as something thuds.] Dammit. Hang on.

[Hoffman vanishes and returns with the toaster in his hands.] ...taoster broke.

[He sets down to fix it, heedless of the video feed still recording before.]

...So...How're you?

[ooc: Hoffman has discovered his power! Intiutive Mechanical Aptitude! Intuitive (instinctive) Mechanical (buldings, specifically mechanics and engineering) Aptitude (enhanced ability.) so...he has the ability to fix things that are broken (and in this case sense that they're broken.) this has culminated in an intense need to fix things that will last for about a week. He'll still be able to function, just...point out and try to fix things busted.

[Hoffman looks up] Huh?

....Nothing. [Realization dawns] I uh-I got involved in a little bit of a persuit over the weekend that left my comm broken and I uh...fixed it. And then I realized alot of other things need fixing.

You're not kiddin' there.

[Hoffman shrugs, then looks distinctly uncomfortable]

.........You've never heard of....that?

Things needin' fixin'? Maybe not all at once, but sure, it happens.

.......I can't-

[He shakes his head]

Fuck.

[He lowers his head] I've got to sound like a fuckin' nut right now.

[wince] Fabulous. What's your superpower?

Not really sure. I've had a lot of ideas about... I'm buildin' this hologram projection unit, but that's more of a necessity than a superpower at the moment. Got a friend who's a hologram and he's not doin' so well at the moment.

Aha, this looks familiar...

[Video clicks on, and look who suddenly has a workshop twin!]

[Hoffman stares weakly]

Likewise! Now, let me guess...all this has something to do with your powers?

[Hoffman stares]

[Realization Dawns. Punctured with loud swearing.]

[A bit taken aback by the outburst.]

...And you hadn't figured that out yet. Right. I can work with that.

[. Hoffman stares for a moment before rubbing at his forheard]

You're telling me that an obsessive need to fix things is a power?

Well, did you know how to fix any of those things before you were Ported in?

[Brief headshake as he tries to set order to the room]

Well, then, there you go! It's your new superpower. Mine's quite similar, actually.

[Hoffman looks up] ...How's it similar? ....If you don't mind my askin'...

Well. I was already a technical expert, but now...

[Holds his hands out toward the camera and wiggles his fingers.]

I can learn things about any machine just by touching it. I can see how it works, if anything's malfunctioning...and how to fix it if it is.

... Are you okay?

[He stares at her bleary-eyed before lowering his gaze.]

.....You remember talking about abilities? Does that include uh....obsessively fixing things?

... It could? Everyone's powers are different. As far as I can tell, no one really has the same set of powers. Why, spend the weekend in the garage?

[He nods once, moving to pick up a set of papers and move them to a different place in the room]

.......I was down in the red-light district following a lead. This guy bum-rushed me, grabbed my comm and threw it under the bus. So I went home and fixed it.

....couldn't tell you how I did it but I did it. Couldn't tell you how I fixed the car I bought but uh...

[He shifts] .....I'm a cop. Not an engineer.

Hey, that's a pretty handy skill to have, though. Our current technopaths are... well, let's just say I'd prefer to keep as much in-house as possible.

I think it's pretty cool.

[Hoffman manages a slow smile]

[he tries to shrug it off.] If the coffee machine breaks at least you don't have to pay a hundred bucks to get it fixed.

[pause] SO far it's uh...stuck on obsessive fixing mode.

[He manages to smile despite himself]

So far I can tell if something's broken. Minor machinery. And uh...building things. I think. Feels like someone kicked me in the head.

Wish it could've been something more....useful y'know to the profession but uh...

Coffee maker will work better then it is currently.
