[voice, Japanese because LOL WAT YuNork]
[The communicator sounds as though it's moving, with air rushing against the speaker... and the sound of rolling wheels underfoot. They come skidding to a halt, and the person on the other end seems to wait a moment before speaking into the device.]
...This is unexpected.
[Said in a boyish voice, on a perfectly calm, smoothed-over tone, though there's a hint of dissatisfaction to it. So much for that riding duel... inwardly, he's actually fighting a great deal of frustration at this unanticipated obstacle, but nothing of that is audible in his words. He decides to put the demeanor of the impeccable transfer student back on for now, and so his speech almost sounds a little pretentious at first.]
So, since this looks like some kind of phone or communication device, I think I'll take a chance and ask anyone who may be listening: what is it, exactly, the person who brought me here wants from me? "Heroism"? Well, that's a little vague, isn't it? I don't think I'd be any good at that.
[He sounds flatly modest, as though saying so for a reason he'd rather not admit to. The rolling sound starts again, similar to the wheels of a skateboard. The rolling soon halts again, but only because the boy has just made a jump of some sort, and lands with a clack and further rolling of wheels on pavement. Suddenly, a car horn honks, and tires screech in the background. Luciano banks to the side with a clatter, riding away with a sigh.]
Jerk. Some people... do drivers in this place often not look where they're going? They ought to know boarders have the right of way.
...Ah, on a similar note, has anyone seen Ruka-chan or Rua-kun? I'd seen them practicing from the road up above and I was about to go down to join them... I suppose this machine had other plans, though.
[A total lie, but you couldn't tell he wasn't sincere just from listening to him, because he certainly sounds friendly enough. His next few lines are rather soft and somewhat distant.]
Interesting thing, that is. Does Momentum really have the capacity to power something like that...?
Anyway, my name is Luciano, and I recently transferred into the branch of Duel Academia in Neo Domino City. If anyone could please fill me in on what's going on here and where my friends are, I would be... much obliged.

[Talk about a monkey wrench in plans. A Ruka from the past... it will take a lot more work, but it's not completely a lost cause, he thinks.]

I'm sorry, this must be very confusing.

[Which isn't really all that untrue. But this is certainly making him curious as to how. That machine must have quite an energy source if it can cross dimensions...]
A Ruka-chan from the past... Rua-kun, too... that is a bit frustrating. I had just transferred schools to the Neo Domino Duel Academy, so I hadn't gotten to know many people yet. You and Rua-kun also attended, which is how I became friends with you.

... What are we like, in that future?

[This is good... he's got her interested, at least. This is a hell of a chance.]
Well... hmm, I'm not sure where to begin. What would you like to know? You don't sound particularly different from the Ruka-chan I'm familiar with, at least. I--
[...BRILLIANT IDEA TIME. It's a bit of a risky gamble, but he thinks it may very well be worth a shot.]
--There's also something I feel it would only be fair to tell you rather than hide it... but I'm not sure if it will make a poor first impression. The last thing I want is to intimidate you or give you a bad opinion of me.

[Pause...]
I can't think of anything that would make me think poorly of you, Luciano. What is it?
no subject
Perhaps it would be better to tell you in person... these networks are a little impersonal, don't you think?
Would you be so kind as to meet me somewhere?
no subject
You're still near the Porter building, right?

LET'S PRETEND THESE ARE DAYLIGHT HOURS...?
Oh, uh, could you turn on video for a moment? It's the other button next to audio.
Let's also pretend I tagged this earlier! :D
Thank you, Ruka-chan. I appreciate it.
[He also assumes the "we" indicates she'll be bringing Rua along, but either way, it won't change his plan much.]
