45th Scream [text]

So, I've been reading recently on this human movement called Transhumanism. The basic idea behind it seems to be that humans should use science and technology to improve themselves and their condition, and it's being treated as this big new thing, this radical new idea, and half of you people are vehemently against it.

I don't understand why, though. I mean, my people have used technology to improve ourselves for eons. Converting one's body into a different form is considered easy - though, I must admit, the species switch was jarring. Still. Why are so many of you against the idea of living longer or better? Of eliminating disease?

Though I'm not sure how it applies to the population that reads this network. Perhaps you're all different. So, citizens, heroes, villains, etc, what are your thoughts on transhumanism?

Private/Encrypted to Sentinel Prime

Sentinel... I have a favor to ask.

Decepticon filter/encrypted

All of you. Report in. Shockwave, what the frag is going on with you? Slipstream, any... anything?

... anyone?

Private to Slipstream

Slipstream, my dear.

Would you be opposed to a dinner date?

Exactly what kind of favor are we talking about?

[Private/encrypted]

Don't give us reason to, and we won't.

[Private/encrypted]

[identity profile] theprimerprime.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Fine. I will try to keep them out of your way. But I can't help you if you get caught at it, so don't do anything stupid.

[Private/encrypted]

[identity profile] theprimerprime.livejournal.com 2010-06-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Right. I'm sure I will.

[Really could care less, as long as there's energon available.]

[personal profile] hackeralastair 2010-06-16 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Never heard of it.
hackeralastair: (eyes closed and smug)

[personal profile] hackeralastair 2010-06-16 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I skimmed it. But it doesn't say anything about like...making us all into cyborgs or anything like that. What the hell does "improving life with technology" mean? Discovering a cure for cancer is just...duh, who wouldn't want that? That's what medical science is for.

Seriously, I'm the wrong guy to ask about -isms. They're all bogus in some way.
livesarock: (cracka what you say.)

voice

[personal profile] livesarock 2010-06-16 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't care what people want to do with themselves, so long as it's a choice and not something forced upon someone. [not that i'm like. bitter about this kind of thing or anything.]
livesarock: (still looking pretty gay guys.)

voice

[personal profile] livesarock 2010-06-17 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. Something that shouldn't be overlooked.

[identity profile] lyingbrat.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

Well, I never heard of it before now, though... to me? My body's only one third of who I am.

Although I really don't have much of an opinion on it one way or another.
notsoloyal: (../ that doesn't even make any sense)

[personal profile] notsoloyal 2010-06-16 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing. I am fine. You can even ask Soundwave, if you are so concerned.

AFFIRMATIVE.
HE IS FINE.

[And giving me a lot of attention.]

Good. One minor glitch is hardly reason for him to be concerned, and you out of everyone would know if anything were wrong with me. Or at least, if I were acting differently.

[Shut up, you're attractive. Now let me wear your shades.]

[Long pause.]

[Long LONG pause.]

You are completely psychotic! Do you realize what the ramifications will be for us all, if this fails?! And just which one of us are you planning on using? How can you be certain your calculations are correct now? And bringing back home without the other imPorts intervening will be difficult enough on its own!

...

[Sigh.]

You have my assistance.

[personal profile] notsoloyal 2010-06-28 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
If one of us does not think of the ramifications should this go wrong, who will. It must be considered, regardless of how favorable success would be.

...Waspinator. [He doesn't want to say much on that topic.]

This army of yours had better be amazing.

[READING THE FILES NOW.]
notsoloyal: (gun/ frag this to tarn and back)

// WavesScream Filter

[personal profile] notsoloyal 2010-06-30 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, perhaps.

Soundwave would kill you even if Ravage had the correct spark. And the Autobots... hnn, you are right, he is the logical choice. [But he's not going to be happy about it.]

What have you done for your little army so far?
seekerfemme: (Amused | Well actually you're an idiot.)

[Decepticon filter]

[personal profile] seekerfemme 2010-06-16 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Things've been quiet for me, really. Nothing much to report.

[Private]

..Except that we should really go see the Blue Angels. According to their online schedule they're not coming particularly close to the City for awhile, but they'll be in Florida on July 10th. Interested?

I wouldn't be opposed to a dinner date, depending on where or what you have in mind.

[Remembering what she read in his notes and stuff when he was gone.]

Color me interested, Starscream.

[private] Yesss but sometime after this coming weekend as I am flailing to get ready for con.

I did.

Now, darling, you're speaking my language~

But of course, the network isn't secure enough for that talk. I'll have to satisfy myself with waiting to hear it all in the metal, so to speak.

I got nothin' against usin' technology, it's the bein' replaced by technology that ain't kosher with me.

[identity profile] shockheadedpete.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's even worse.

An' just as a fyi, this conversation's on the edge of gettin' real religious real fast, an' I don't want that anymore'n you do.

Granted. Keeping them for the sake of entertainment is hardly worth the effort, however.
