[When the screen clicks on it is covered by a small, pale thumb, with only bits of the Porter room visible around the edges of the digit. The bits appear to be moving though as the phone is swung about.]
That voice said people will talk to me through this, Pascal. Do you think Eugene will? Or maybe Mother? Although she's already mad at me and getting sent somewhere even further from home is just going to make her more angry...
[After a few seconds the phone is placed on a surface and the thumb disappears, only to be replaced by a featureless wall. For ten seconds there is nothing.]
...Nothing's happening. Do you think...
[A few seconds later the screen whirls as the phone is turned around, revealing the long haired Rapunzel with a tiny green chameleon on her shoulder. Rapunzel is bent over slightly, her hair tumbling down off the side of her head in waves, and the phone must be propped up on a desk. Girl and Chameleon both look very expectant, eager even, their eyes wide and hopeful, faces maybe two feet from the phone. And nothing happens, of course. Eventually Rapunzel frowns.]
Maybe I'm supposed to say something?
[This is whispered in an aside to the Chameleon, who just shrugs at her, and she turns back to the screen and holds up a hand, giving a little wave of her fingers.]
Hello? I'm Rapunzel. I just woke up here, but I don't know how. Or why. The voice in the ceiling was not very helpful. Uhm. Eugene, if you can hear this I didn't mean to leave the boat, and Mother if you can hear this...I don't know...I'm sorry? [And then in another aside to the chameleon.] Do you think that's enough?

See it's pretty cool right?
no subject
Wow.
[Yup. That's all she manages.]

You're going to need a place to stay. They have apartments for people like us close to where you are.

[He flickers the video around his as though that would help.]
Everyone who gets brought here, gets one for free.
no subject
[She watches the video carefully.]
...So like a tower?
no subject
I can give you directions if you need them.

[She's peering out the door again, now. She doesn't seem very intent on leaving yet, though.]
no subject
My name's Momiji, by the way.

[She smiles as she leans back in for a moment, looking at the directions that just popped up on her phone.]
So all of those...people out there. And the big...they're called cars, right? [Someone had told her that.]
There's so many of them.
no subject
I think I like your name better.
Yeah, cars. They didn't have them where you're from?
Hundreds. Thousands, even.
no subject
[Rapunzel shifts a bit in place.]
I've met less than thirty people. Ever.
no subject
Is where you're from that small?
no subject
Well. No. Sort of...I guess the Kingdom is pretty big...
I spent my entire life in a tower. Until yesterday.

Mother needs to protect me. Or she thinks she needs to protect me.
no subject
Well, you can go out and do whatever you want here. And there's a lot of people here that would help you out if you needed protecting.
no subject
Although there's so many people. I'll have to rebraid my hair...I don't know why it came so undone...
no subject
Doesn't it bother you to have some much?
no subject
No?

It's not heavy to me. I guess it would be to other people. But I'm used to it. I love my hair.
no subject
It's, um, very nice. I guess that was a stupid question.
no subject
No, no, it wasn't stupid! I know my hair is very different from everyone else's. It's never been cut.
