You're welcome Aaron, it's good to have you back with us. How are you feeling?

[He frowns, there's a reason he has his glasses on today, and it's because he's suffering a bit from the return to being a vampire.]

Better.

I know this must not be easy for you.

[Unsure of what else he can say. 'I didn't know you liked donuts' doesn't seem like the right thing at the moment.]

[He tilts his head, as if to say that's the understatement of he day. He's hardly embarrassed about liking donuts, but being a child, his ego has suffered a bit. He does pride himself on his calm, level-headed nature, which is exactly what he's doing his best to maintain right now.]

It's not something I expected to experience a month after my return to the City.

I'll bet. Well, I've got something else unexpected for you if you're ready to hear it.

Hmm. [The sound is not exactly a pleased one. Apparently he expects bad news, though, as usual, he appears impassive about it all.]

Let's hear it.

All right.

There's been a lot of talk about how the force is going to be organized with Lassiter gone, and one of the things that's been decided is that we should have a dedicated public relations officer, preferably an Import. Someone who can talk to the people, both on this Network and in the media. I put your name forward. If it all goes through, you're looking at becoming a Lieutenant.

[Clearly unexpected, just as Jack said. Aaron's eyebrows raise up over his glasses, which is about as surprised as he's going to let himself look today. He's speechless for a few moments, probably blinking in surprise behind his dark glasses before he finds his voice.]

[Jack smiles a little]

You're welcome. You've earned it.

It won't cut into your regular duties, you'll still be able to patrol and work on cases.

We'll see.

[That, almost sounds like a 'voice of experience' from Aaron. He's played the media game recently back home, and it takes up a lot of his time. He takes a moment though, and turns his head to glance at something off-screen.]

One a separate note: has Sergeant Victoria talked to you about developing certain STARS training programs?

Yeah, she did. I actually had an exercise ready a week ago, but then all this happened. Once things are fully back to normal, I'd like the two of you to conduct the training in the Danger Room. I'm also going to allow other officers to attend.

[Aaron's heard about the Danger Room, but never really knew what it was all about, aside from training exercises.]

Preferably soon, with the way this month has been progressing. I'll talk to Victoria about what should be addressed in the training.

It's alright. You weren't yourself. Well, I mean you were, but you weren't the yourself that knows me.

Um, really you weren't that much trouble.

[Even if she did have an almost constant heart attack worrying about where he was and what could have happened to him.]

[Aaron turns his head, as he feels unable to meet her eyes, even through the glasses. Clearly he's uncomfortable with the whole situation, but there's nothing he can do about it.]

Please don't feel bad about it. Everything is back to normal now and nothing horrible happened so there's no reason to.

I was fortunate that no one took advantage of my situation, or my foolishness.

[But he remembers being rather anxious to get out of Seras' apartment upon 'discovering' her stash of blood there.]

I know, but they didn't so it's alright.

[Looking back she knew she should have done something to hide that blood, but she was so panicked and tired she hadn't thought to.]

Hmm.

[Always that enigmatic affirmation, not really agreeing, but not really an actual response otherwise.]

Still, my overall behavior was less than apprciative.

I don't blame you. You didn't know what was going on, or where you were.

I could have been a little more courteous.

[And thinking about how his family would have been embarrassed by his behavior only made old memories dig themselves out of whatever dusty closet he'd been keeping them in. He reached up under his glasses and rubbed at his eyes, a very abnormal thing for him to do, and he seemed very, very careful to keep his glasses on.]

I should probably get some sleep.

It's fine.

You probably should. Um, maybe you should take a day, or two off? Just to get yourself back to your usual schedule?

[He mustered a weary smile.]

I'll be in tomorrow, Sergeant. I'd rather be at work.

At least let me help you with the paperwork.

[He looks reluctant a moment, but then nods.]

I could, use the help, thank you.
