[Video]

[The video clicks on to a very blurry image, flashes of green and grey and until it settles. Houston's in costume and frowning at something off camera right now and apparently perched atop a parked car.]

I need a lot of weed killer.

[He glances towards the camera and then back towards whatever he's dealing with.]

Or a flamethrower. Anyone have a spare flamethrower I can borrow? We've got a people-eating plant infestation.

[Another pause as the picture blurs again, probably Joel moving at super speed. When the video unblurs, there's a few moments where it shows one of those man-eating plants. Joel moves the camera back to himself and frowns.]

Anyone know where these came from?

Oh hell! Are you alright? Where are you?

I'm okay, ma'am.

[He's keeping his eyes on the plant instead of the camera.]

I'm too fast for these things. I'm a couple blocks away from the MAC.

Good, stay that way.

I'm guessing shooting them hasn't worked?

Yes, ma'am.

Shooting, punching, kicking. None of it works. I could probably grab one and run it somewhere before it got a bite out of me but I don't know where to take them.

[Well damn it! Flying over and ripping them apart wasn't an option then.]

I'll call up the Fire Department, get them to make a pit we can burn them in. Hopefully that will work and if not we'll make sure it's fenced in so they can't get out.

Sounds like a good idea, ma'am.

[He pauses.]

I think I can trap them in the dumpster again but I'll need someone down here to haul it some place that no one can open it.

That I can do. Chain it up and I'll fly them to the burn site.

[Joel nods.]

Yes, ma'am.

Going to have to hang up now. This will take both hands. I'll call again when I get it done.

Alright, be careful. I'm leaving the station now so I'll be there soon.

[He nods.]

Here I go...

[And he cuts the feed.]

[Seras leaves the station and flies to the location Joel gave her. Landing she looks around before calling out.]

Joel? Joel, are you alright?

[Joel's in a nearby alley, working on catching his breath. Perched atop a dumpster he's chained up, the time manipulating speedster is dirty and has some scrapes and bruises. He waves Seras over when he spots her.]

Over here, ma'am!

[She smiles at him and runs over.]

Good job!

[Joel smiles as he hops off the dumpster. He gives the metal container a wary look before turning back to Seras.]

Thank you, ma'am.

I got all three of them here.

[He pats the dumpster, the sounds of the angry plants inside kicking up.]

I'll take them from here then.

Hopefully this actually works. I hate to think about one of these things on fire and angry.

Be careful, ma'am.

These things are pretty tough for plants. Might be best to burn them inside the dumpster.

Good idea, I think I'll do that.

[Stepping over to the dumpster Seras reached out with her left arm. Quickly it shifted into its shadow form and wrapped around the dumpster while wings formed on her back.]

I'll call once I get on site and have the fire going.

[Joel jumps in surprise. It's not a sight he's used to and it's kind of fascinating. He watches those shadows for a moment before rubbing the back of his neck.]

Wow.

Alright. I have to stick around and wait for the others I called. There's...[His expression sinks quickly. He glances farther down the alley and then sighs.] a body. These things got to someone before I got here.

Damn it. You still did good though, they didn't get a chance to hurt anyone else and we're going to make sure it stays that way.

Thank you, ma'am. I made sure not to let them get away. One person they've hurt is too many.

It is. It also means we're probably going to have to keep them as evidence now.

[She sighs. Bloody stupid procedures.]

Well they can't bite through metal right? So we could get one of those big containers from the docks, the kind they put on ships, and lock them up in that.

[Joel pauses and then scrubs a hand down is face.]

Yeah.

[He's not happy about that.]

I'm pretty sure they can't. They haven't bitten through the dumpster yet. One of those containers is probably a good idea though. I checked the Network while I was waiting and other people have mentioned plants like these. I'm pretty sure that some attacked in the Park as well.

[She wasn't happy about it either, furious in fact, but with everyone watching the Import officers with a damn microscope she didn't have a choice right now.]

I'll lock these ones up and drop them off at the Superjail then we'll sweep the park until we're sure it's clear. Between the two of us it shouldn't take too long.

Alright, Ma'am. I'll be down there as soon as the other officers get here to take care of things.

Tell them to stay sharp just in case one of those things is still lurking around here and that if they do see one to call you, or me and get any civilians the hell out of the area.

[With that Seras took to the air, carrying the dumpster with her.]

Yes, ma'am!

[He gives a nod, watching Seras go. Once she's gone, he starts checking out the area for any more plants.]

[Oh God, really?

[She composes herself]

You know, maybe killing them will only piss the others off.

They seem pretty angry already. And I'm not sure how else to fight these things.

Well I don't know. Maybe if someone bothered trying to tame them they'd calm down and be useful.

[That makes Joel give the camera and incredulous look.]

How am I supposed to tame killer plants?

Call... a gardener?

[She's trying so hard not to think about her babies getting killed..]

A gardener probably isn't going to know how to deal with a plant that wants to eat them. [A beat.] Unless they're the ones that grew these things in the first place.

[He'd be more sorry about hurting the plants if he knew they belonged to someone.]
