You know, most days I think this place is just like any other universe out there—sure, there are things that make each one different, but in essentials… I mean, you can make a life here as much as you can any other place, right?

But there are some things that are pretty irreplaceable. I was thinking about that, today—I had photo albums at home, piles and piles of them. And even if I couldn’t go back to the moments in those pictures, I could still look at them and remember. But they’re not the sort of thing you find at the corner store. There’s no way to get them back.

There must be a million other things, too, that we don’t think about. But it’s like there’s a wall there, separating from where we were or what we had or who we knew. But I think getting things out in the open makes them easier to carry, somehow.

_{( she pauses briefly, smiling in an almost bashful way. maybe she didn’t intend to say quite that much. )}

It's kind of stupid considering all the more important things I miss like my family and friends from back home but...

[He takes a breath and smiles.]

I was picking up some groceries and I saw some comics by the checkout. It made me miss the comic books I used to read back home.

In that sense, Miss Donna, I'd have to say...the simplicity of life. I miss being more concerned about living or dying each day, instead of worrying most about whether my clothes are trendy enough or whether the beef I'm cooking is 'organic.'

...and my nice big fridge with a lock on it.

I would not say precisely that I miss it, but my current mission in my home universe was quite important. It is something I cannot accomplish here, and I would like to return and see it through.

I happen to be a very sentimental person. It's a failing I can't quite make myself work to get rid of.

Oh, without a doubt. But I think, at some points, certain things hit you harder than others.

At least, that's how it works for me.

It's not a failing, my dear. It's endearing.

Back home there was this hole-in-the-wall Cambodian sandwich shop on 12th Street that made killer pulled pork. Never existed here, so far as I can tell.

I guess I've never thought about that, since my world can be so similar to this one. But it sounds exciting--living day to day, like that.

And I'd say you could lock your fridge, here, but it's probably not the same, is it?

Truthfully, I miss the people -- my friends, my mother... But you being here significantly lessens the yearning I feel for home. [Her expression brightens.] Happy birthday, sister. I am constantly grateful for your presence in my life.

Well, I don't mind sharing, if they ever turn up here.

No, they're pretty different here. There's a lot less of them and while one or two characters are similar, it's all new.

But not the ones in Yosemite, I'm guessing.

It is. People here take for granted how easy they have it. Though I suppose it could be strange to say you miss a life of hardship...not many people would, hm?

Heh, no, the one on the Sunny is huge. Three times the size of the one that came with the MAC flat, easily. Though, those times I'm here without anyone else from the crew, I suppose I don't need one that large...

No. I miss the ones on Krypton. I went there a few times with my sister when we were kids.

That feeling where you want something you know you shouldn't, right?
