[ So Julian's been gone somewhere close to a week. He finds that out from a newspaper stand. For him it's been a hell of a lot longer than a week, and his head is spinning now. Memories he hadn't known were there are rising to the surface, fitting back into place. Friends, enemies, people from other worlds. Events he'd thought he'd never forget. Skrulls, Vulcanus.

God, this is weird.

And last time he'd been here, he hadn't looked like this.

He's walking through the City, metal hands concealed in his pockets. Every part of this is a mess. His powers are holding the phone to his ear, and there's no video.

So I'm back. You can all stop missing me now. Since nothing's in pieces I'm gonna guess no one tried to destroy the place this week. Did I miss anything worth telling?

This is exactly why we need you and your team there. If we don't give the CPD ImPort support, it's always going to stay full prejudice, judgmental native bastards.

If ImPorts just roll over while the CPD falls to shambles without their heads on straight, how are you expecting things to change around here.

I'm not. It isn't going to change whether we're a part of it or not, so we shouldn't be. The ImPorts look to us, Callie, they're the important ones. They're the ones everyone hates. I don't remember the cops being any great shakes at fixing that, unless everything got a lot warmer while I was gone.

[ He remembers natives shooting at Houston even though he was an ImPort. He remembers kids being beaten up, and graffiti on walls. Just like home. Which means that just like home, the only authority he wants to be fighting for is the one that looks after what his people need to survive. ]
