first movement; overture [ video ]
[ The room is dark - well, dimly lit. Someone appears to have taken pains to shut as much light out as possible without actually moving anything, but it doesn't do that much.
The person responsible for the broadcast moves into the view of the camera, seemingly unaware of it. Their face can't be made out - not that it could anyway, as they're not facing the camera.
There's enough light to discern that this person is wearing a black, slightly ragged suit, contrasting nicely with shoulder-length white hair. There's the rustle of cloth, the soft plink of a string, and a violin briefly comes into view as they raise the instrument to their shoulder, bow in the other hand.
A slightly shaky breath, and then they put bow to string, pausing for a brief moment.
And then the violin sings. This performance goes on for quite a while.
What may be impressive is that the whole thing is played perfectly; no hesitation or stumbling. When the person is finished, they lower the violin, and the broadcast ends.
The name attached to the broadcast may be familiar to some people. ]

Voice
voice
not turning video on again, though, he looks like death warmed over and nobody needs to see that. ]
Why, thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed my performance.
[ his voice is quiet, wavering slightly. cheerful, in a strained kind of way. ]
voice
Why, I do believe that's a name I haven't seen in some time. Fiddler, welcome to the City. [ Wow, that might be a sour note on the last word. ]
voice
The same to you, Shade. How have you been doing? [ yep that sure is a sour note there, and he knows exactly why ] Though I'm sure you'd much rather be back in Opal than here.
voice
I have been well, however. It's good to see you faring well.
voice
there's a small laugh at 'faring well'. it sounds a little bit strained, a little sick, and kind of morbidly amused. ]
That's good to know.
Voice
I would say that I intend to make this unplanned outing a short one. How have you been in recent years? I haven't heard much.
voice
which is mostly because he feels too out of it to try, whoops. ]
Oh, well enough, well enough! Up to a certain point, I suppose. [ translation: WELL I KIND OF UP AND DIED BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD SAY THAT ]
voice (you mind if he eventually just creep actions on in eventually?)
voice (not at all! go right ahead)
Being forcibly expelled from the mortal coil is some inconvenience. [ not only once but TWICE! gosh :c ]
Voice (yesssss)
voice
Ah, hell. Hospitable, it is decidedly not.

There are Black Lanterns now? Do you remember the day when the only Green Lantern was the one in Gotham?
voice
Hm, yes. I do, though I don't remember too much about him. [ he was probably noodling around in Keystone tbh ] There's a veritable rainbow of them, I believe.
There was--some incident, I don't know the details, [ if this was video you could totally see him waving a hand right now ] but the Black Lantern method of gathering troops for their side was reviving the already dead and sending them out to...gather emotion, I believe. [ CAN YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING. ]

voice
[ A pause. ]
It wasn't pleasant.
[ They harvested emotion from anyone living.
It was the first time his music had been wielded, truly, as a weapon of destruction; not to hypnotise or to protect, but to break. ]
Action
As someone who is the furthest thing from human, i know the experience must be jarring. [ He pauses, and then: ] I hope I'm not intruding.
action
his violin is sitting on his bedside table, and he's made sure that it can't fall off because of a slight breeze or gravity or something. basically he just cleared everything else off except the lamp....
it's pretty dark in here, but there's more than enough light to see that Isaac looks like death warmed over, which explains why he's huddled up. ]
It wasn't the most pleasant of transitions, I will admit. [ he waves a hand, dismissively. ] It's not as if I'm doing much - you're not intruding in the slightest.
action
It never is, to find oneself inhuman. [ He pauses, actually waving a hand. ] I can't imagine it is particularly pleasant even now. You look human, at least.
action
My apologies. I would take steps to make this more suited to greeting guests, but my balance isn't the best at this point in time. [ translation: light hurts and everything feels terrible, also i think i will fall over if i stand up too long ]
action
I'm honestly surprised you managed something of a performance, but I suppose an artist will always endure for his craft.
action
It was more to relieve stress, actually. It's refreshing just to play, and not to think about much else.
action
This would be the most opportune time to relieve stress. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to get easier, but that may be my sentimentality showing.
