Have you ever done something that you haven't since you were a kid, just for kicks, and found out it's just as awesome as it was when you were five? 'Cause I'm totally having one of those moments right now and I gotta say, if you haven't built a blanket fort in the past five years? You should definitely do it again.

[ there's a pause and she looks around. ]

Extra credit if you can get it to cover your entire living room. I wonder if we've got enough blankets for that...

[ the feed clicks off as gwen gets up, presumably in search of more pillows and blankets. ]

Dad's idea of fun is biking in sub-zero weather, then making a speech about how it builds character.

I swear I'm not making this up! His idea of a fun vacation is to go camping on a forsaken, mosquito-infested rock cut off from all civilization, getting up at six AM every single day!

Eugh. It's not even like a Boy Scout outing or anything?

No! It's our family vacation! That's his idea of quality time with me and Mom. It's the highlight of his year!

And he's always saying I'm not well-adjusted.

Highlight? You have got to be kidding me. That sounds like torture.

One year it rained the whole week. It was a non-stop, torrential downpour! We couldn't even get a campfire going. But Dad still thinks that the best possible vacation is getting back to nature so it can tear us limb from limb.

Oh my god, that sucks royally.

And yet, every time I tried to sue for emancipation the court hung up on me. Can you believe it?

You're kinda young to be emancipated.

Yeah, but considering my home situation I think they should have made an exception.
