[Video]

[The video is a little shaky, starting out showing the ceiling of the Porter room. Slowly it turns to focus on Joel. He tries to offer a weak smile but it doesn't last. Getting killed and being back have obviously shaken him.]

I...hi.

[An awkward little wave. His hand drops back to his side quickly, eyes darting to the side. He takes a deep breath before continuing.]

It's over, right? Someone rescued the other hostages and stopped those two monsters?

[A 'please tell me someone did' is silently implied.]

How bad did things get after...?[He's not saying it. Just letting it end there.]

[Joel can only manage a partial smile right now. He'll do his best to follow those orders though.]

Good. He didn't...get anyone else did he? [Another pause.] Is someone watching the building now? To grab him as soon as he comes back?

Not directly, but we lost sixteen other officers including Lestrade.

We have people watching the building and ESU on standby if he does show. I'd like more, but everyone is busy clearing up the mess, or getting some rest.

Greg...dammit. [He's quiet a moment, looking down.]

Once I'm able, I'd like to volunteer to watch for him and that Doctor, ma'am. They both belong behind bars.

[She frowns and then nods. He deserves a shot at the bastards more than anyone else on the force.]

I'll make sure you get on that detail. Only when you're ready though.

Thank you, ma'am. They need to pay for everyone they've heart and all the damage they've done.

[He wants payback too but he's not going to admit to it in public.]

We'll make sure they do.

Right now though you need to focus on resting and getting back on your feet. I know you're not physically hurt anymore, but you should still take it easy for a bit.

[She also might pull duty with him for a while until she can stop worrying about him.]

Good.

I don't have my speed. [Another frown.] Or my costume. [That actually bothers him more than being without his speed. He knows it shouldn't, but it does.]

I'll...try. [He's not sure if he'll be able to take it easy.]

Wait she took it? I can't believe she did that! Is there anyway to get another one made here?

I'm not sure. It was magic. A Greek God gave it to me. I can usually make it appear on me with a thought but...[He tries and nothing happens. Just his plain old CPD uniform.]

I'm sorry.

[Though that makes more sense now why the Porter took it.]

Hopefully she'll give it back eventually. Until then wear your vest okay?

[Not that she does, but hey she regenerates.]

[He'll get over it eventually.]

I hope so. [He nods.] Yes, ma'am. Vest and all my other gear.

I guess now would be a good time to brush up on some fundamentals. I know it's training, but it's helpful and it can keep you busy. Maybe it also convince higher to let me get you back on patrol sooner.

Not sure if I need to brush up but I'll report to training ASAP. [He needs something to keep his mind off this.]

How long do they want me off for?

A couple of days at least, maybe a week. I'll do my best to make sure it's only a day, or so, but you did die. They're just worried about you and they want to make sure you'll be okay.

[He nods. He can understand why they wouldn't want him out on patrol.]

If I can't get back on the beat, I hope I can do...something. Any kind of work. [Because he'll just drive himself crazy at home.]

I know how that feels. Don't worry, I'll think of something alright?

[She'll just have him assigned to her for advanced training, or something and then let him do his damn job. Yeah, that will work.]

[He nods, managing a small smile again.]

Yes, ma'am. Thank you, ma'am.

Oh! I...really? Um, alright, Seras. [He's not used to being so casual with his boss.]

Yes really, and thank you.

You know I didn't ask, but do you need anything? I mean besides getting back on the beat.

[He goes quiet to think about that. Eventually he shakes his head. Really he wants some company but he doesn't want to take anyone away from important work.]

I'm okay. I'm going to take a walk for a bit.

If you're sure...

[She's torn. She wants to fly out there and walk with him, glaring at anything that so much as breathes wrong in his direction. She also wants to stay here and do her duty.]

You'll be careful, please?

I am.

[He smiles.]

I will. I may not have my speed but I've gotten training in fighting from two different Batgirls...which is a pretty big deal. Going to be trying to avoid anything dangerous anyway.

Okay, but if you do call me for back up. I can get there faster than the other officers.

[He has to stop himself from saying his usual line about his speed. Instead, he just nods.]
