[ there's a pair of thumbs clumsily blocking the camera for a moment, and then a boy's face appears. the kid's barely a teenager, and he looks a little nervous, but he smiles politely for the camera. ]

Looks like it's working. Good. Uhm– [he takes a deep breath, then launches into a clearly-rehearsed speech] –Hi, everyone. My name's Alex Power. Obviously I'm new to this place, but I've already read all those pamphlets they gave us and done some research, so I think I'm mostly caught up on the City and how it works.

[ he smiles wider, though it's a bit forced. ]

It's pretty weird and all, but, my family lives in Manhattan, so I'm kinda used to weird. Superheroes really aren't anything new, ya know? [ he sighs, then catches himself and laughs a bit, awkwardly. ] If my parents were here they'd tell me to try and make the best of it, and that's what I'm going to do. I guess I'm headed to the MAC Building, so...if any of you are living there now, lemme me know if you want to meet up? I don't know anyone here yet.

[ ohgod. being abducted is nothing new, but alex hates being in a weird place without his family. MUST ACT MATURE. ]

No, it's not your fault! It just caught me by surprise, is all. I should'a been thinking with a more open mind about the people I could end up meeting here...they did mention all this temporal-alternate paradox stuff in the books and websites I read!

They're not the "I saw a rainbow in my sprinklers and the government is contaminating our water" and the "Big Pharma" sort of sources, are they?

They're hardly authoritative on temporal-alternate paradox stuff, like you put it.

Nah, nothing like that! It was mostly stuff people had written about the Imports and Lachesis, like, what to expect and some of the stuff that's happened before. I haven't read anything on the theory behind all of it--not yet.

It's all wild speculation. You wouldn't miss out on much if you stopped right here.

If only Lachesis were interested (or capable!) in actually answering a few questions.

I still think it's really interesting, though! Wish I could tell my dad about it; he'd get a kick out of researching all this stuff.

...Yeah. [ Alex goes a bit quiet for a moment. ] He's a physicist. I think I'd like to be one, too, someday.

[ c'mon Reed it can't be THAT hard. 'F is for friends who do stuff together. . .' ]

It shouldn't be unreasonable to think that a version of him might pop up here.
