There are three days, seventeen hours and eighteen minutes until the start of the Olympics. [A beat.] Not that I'm counting or anything. It's almost comforting to see the games go on despite the wars and chaos all around us. It's a reminder that we can put our differences aside and compete in the truest and purest way imaginable, without prejudice or anything. It's just for the love of the sport.
On my must watch list is archery, fencing, shooting, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, and the track and field events. I'll be Tivo-ing the judo and boxing, maybe the soccer, too.
Who else is excited? I can't be the only one with Olympic fever!

They're certainly enjoyable and admirable, especially compared to the antics on "reality television", but none of them could hold a candle to the dramatics of These Messages.

The Games are quite a spectacle, but they're nothing compared to that moment when a professionally attractive human bites into a burger and takes a drink and perhaps a chorus forums behind them and begins to sing about, tuh...
[ Pause. ] Wait. What's "Hey-neigh-ken"?
voice;
Heineken is a type of beer.
Do you really only like the commercials?
voice;
I have been informed that I am not allowed to touch such beverages. It is against the law, and furthermore, they can be rather dangerous without moderation. Shun.
[ he sounds so... serious about this. ]
I prefer the commercials. That doesn't mean I won't watch the rest of it.
voice;
[Is this guy a kid? She can't quite tell.]
Why do you like commercials so much?
voice;
[ Well, that answers that. ]
Why wouldn't I? There's so much information, so much passion, all packed into such a brief time frame! Each second of a commericial delivers more dramatics than most programs do within a minute.
With the exception of "Days of Our Lives", of course. Oars?
voice;
The point of commercials is just to sell you something. It's all about products and money, not dramatics. Half the time the ads have nothing to do with the products anyways.
voice;
I do know what the purpose of commercials is. Even though, I admit, you're correct. Most do not successfully achieve their objective of getting you to purchase their product. Duck. Tuh. I simply find them the most entertaining part of a program.
voice;
So you don't like the ongoing stories as much as the thirty second vignettes?
voice;
Usually. I will make an exception for an uncommonly good show, however, or a truly terrible commercial.

Yeah, I'm American. I've... never met Canadians quite like you before, uh. Yeah.
