There are three days, seventeen hours and eighteen minutes until the start of the Olympics. [A beat.] Not that I'm counting or anything. It's almost comforting to see the games go on despite the wars and chaos all around us. It's a reminder that we can put our differences aside and compete in the truest and purest way imaginable, without prejudice or anything. It's just for the love of the sport.

On my must watch list is archery, fencing, shooting, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, and the track and field events. I'll be Tivo-ing the judo and boxing, maybe the soccer, too.

Who else is excited? I can't be the only one with Olympic fever!

Only a few months, now! It doesn't feel like long, though.

You're probably still getting used to it then. It'll be two years for me this fall.

[redheaded]

[ She nods, smiles. ]

Everyone's been here so long... I can't imagine doing it myself, but honestly, it's better than home.

[recurve]

It's not often you hear someone say something like that.

[redheaded]

Heh—yeah, I've gotten that before. Well, most of the people I care about at home are long gone; but they're still alive here.

It's a nice change.

I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm glad they're safe in the City.

[redheaded]

Eek, I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a downer! Urgh, I kind of do that now without really trying.

[ She grins again. ]

It's cool here. I mean, besides the—the obvious.

It is cool here. Most of my friends from home are still back home, but I've met some really awesome people in the City.

[redheaded]

Same! I'm glad for it, you know?

It's change, but it's a good change.

[recurve]

It's good that it's good for you. It sucks when people are sad to be here.

[redheaded]

[ MJ nods, agreeing. ]

Yeah, I—there are a lot of people I've met that I've felt sad for. It's a weird feeling; I mean, feeling like it's not my place to have such a different reaction, you know?

I know what you mean, but I think it's okay to feel how you feel. You don't need to justify it to anyone.

[redheaded]

( Smiling, she runs a hand through her hair and looks relieved. )
