The above link makes for some interesting reading.

Today I would like to speak to you about literature. Or rather, some of you. I have happened upon a book. I would recommend it to those of you who enjoy heavy historical reading. Or to those of you who have a particular interest in the mind. Though the title may seem rather scandalous, the contents are certainly worth reading. I must admit that I have little interest in politics to warrant this broadcast being dedicated to the subject, but I do have an interest in the tactics used to have an entire nation fall into place. You may say what you want about Soviet Russia, but they were certainly talented at mass propaganda and fear tactics. However, a state in which a little rebellion is frowned upon hardly rings of paradise. What are we without a little fight in us?

Would any of you agree with the above citations?

I have, in particular, also enjoyed chapter five, "The Examination of Loyalties" and chapters six ("The General Subject of Obedience") and eight ("Degredation, Shock and Edurance") have also been fascinating.

I promise this message isn't as gloomy as it appears to be.

In actuality I would like to mostly direct this towards my fellow students. I would like to propose a book club. While happening upon this book, I also stumbled upon "Topping From Below", "The Discipline" and "Forbidden Nights with a Vampire". In addition, I also found Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and Anthony Burgess' "Earthly Powers". I should also mention that I am not above bribing potential members with home-made baked goods and perhaps very attractive membership badges.

Oh -- and hello to any newcomers.
