Finally.

Better late than never, I guess. Still, I'd like to wring some necks over it, but that's aside the point. We've finally gained a hearing for Jack Bauer's release.

Julian, you got a new recruit to law enforcement. Her name's Raven. Show her the ropes if you can. Not sure if she's here long enough to deal with our more... recent problems, but train her the best you can in case we need to travel somewhere to take care of some business.

[She clicks to video and Khasoggi sees a demon woman on screen, dressed professionally, drinking some coffee in her kitchen with a notepad in hand]

[And he clicks the video on as well. He's sitting at a desk in the police office, wearing sunglasses and his cop uniform. He nods at the camera, seemingly unphased by Callie's appearance-at least she was vaguely human, unlike those Metricog people.]

[ Now there's an interesting message. ]

Raven, the gravity shifter? I know her already, I like her attitude. I'll give her a call.

Do you need me to testify?

Oh is that what she does? Well.. good. Sounds like she might fit in if you like her already.

As much as I'd want to get as many people on our side as we can, we need to stay a seemingly neutral party... especially if we want to take Jack in.

Alright. [She taps her pencil on her notepad]

Mister Khasoggi, how do you know Jack Bauer?

We had never met before the Metricog incident.

How would you describe him?

What kinds of things are you looking for, in terms of testimony?

I read you. The important thing is getting him out, I don't care how we do it.

Raven knows her way around, and she won't sugarcoat anything. She'll do what needs doing. My kind of person.

Very forward. While he was helping me and afterwards, he seemed to know exactly what he wanted and how to get it. Aside from that, he's been nothing but helpful.

You looking for witnesses, or character testimonials?

Glad to hear it.

She seemed pretty up front, so I'm not too worried about her. It might help to have someone competent holding down the fort while we take care of things.

Any kind of support, really. I'm trying to find the best testimonials we can get to place Jack under good lighting.

Honest, well-descriptive non-biased stories highlighting Jack as a person and the roles he has played in our society.

It was touch-and-go for a while there, but it's a damn good thing I'm persistent.

I've only really met him once, but he saved my life. While I was on duty as a hero. Would that be enough to help him out?

What was the instance he saved you? Details would help.

It was right before he got caught and taken in. There were those...things, I never even found out what it really was, but it was pretending to be my partner, Barnaby, and trying to kill me. No matter what I did, I couldn't stop it. Jack helped me out, made it so I could finally figure out the thing's weakness - and then he went and took care of the civilians I was trying to save when I got attacked.

He'd a decent man, I can tell. I don't know what he's done besides take hostages in Venezuela but since that was Vulcanus messing with everyone, I hope he gets cut a little slack for that.

I knew you'd break through them, Callie.

I had to do some explaining when I got back from Metricog, but there doesn't seem to be a problem. The administration here knows things like that tend to happen to Imports, they understand I didn't have a choice.

So Santo doesn't strike you as the competent type?

Why, you know something I don't?

Of course not. During Metricog and my momentary lapse of reason, he had numerous opportunities to mug me, beat me up, and so on and so forth. Instead, he helped me.

I don't know the deets of what went down in Venezuela, but I've worked with Bauer before and I'd like to think I've gotten a good handle on the guy. Dunno if a testimonial from a guy in a mask would mean anything, but I'm there if you need me.

[Soft chuckle.]

They seemed to appreciate that I didn't try to run once I was back. That didn't stop them from giving me an ankle tracker, though. It looks like I'm going to be stuck with it for a while.

I’m not arguing. But I trust Santo. He goofs off but he’d get the job done. Raven’s the serious type. She could handle him.

[ Though between the two of them, Julian’s known Santo longer and would be more inclined to trust him just because of that. Raven has a shell that’s hard to break. ]

Only this. During Metricog, I had a slight panic attack in the middle of a crowded space. Mr. Bauer was calm and helpful in his efforts to remove me from the situation and help me calm down.

I can handle it. If there weren't any strings attached, I'd be suspicious. I think we're lucky they're giving us this much to work with.
