Hector Peck might be a dead end. I don't think he's involved at all with Vulcanus or that New Vesuvius city. He's just an editor for a newspaper here and keeps himself busy with that. Nothing out of the ordinary with his schedule or work.

[ When Gil speaks up, he sounds as if he's slightly congested. ]

I believe Raven has been ported out. If she had any previous or future engagements to attend to I'm sorry, but I don't think she'll be showing up. I haven't heard from or seen her around the house since before some of us were ported to New Vesuvius.

I'm not sure what to do yet about her belongings. It seems too soon to pack them away somewhere so they aren't lying around the place, doesn't it? A bit rude, too... [ He sighs. It's hard to finish cleaning the place when he's caught in a tiny dilemma like this!! ]

It's always going to be impossible to predict how long before people return. [ A beat. ] If they do.

[ Followed by another pause, as if he may add something to that thought. ]

[A pause as she sucks in a shaky breath.] Almost a whole year in the City but I guess my luck had to run out at some point.

[ He already knows, but hearing it from her is worse. It feels like Hooded Justice punched his stomach in right now, knocking the wind out of him. ]

You died? What happened there, Kenzi? Why didn't you tell me this before?

I goofed. I'm so out of practice but didn't realize it until it was too late. [She clears her throat then falls into silence for a few moments.]

You worry too much...I didn't want to make you worry more.

[ He should handle this delicately, yet a part of him feels angry with her. After everything they've been through, she would keep that from him? ]

Of course I would worry. People were being tortured! And some were killing themselves to get out of that place. How could I not worry when those things were happening?

[She just doesn't like people worrying over her. Hell, she doesn't even tell Bo a lot of things because she knows how she'll worry.]

It wasn't any of that. They made it quick since there was, y'know, that thing going on.

[ Either way, it's a sickening thought. He always thinks about Bob when it comes to death in the City.

Gil, dude, it's not your fault. I didn't have to keep the promise. I could have lied and kept on stealing but I wanted to be good. So don't blame yourself.

How can you say that? [ He would run a hand down his face, but it hurts to touch his nose. ] If I hadn't made you promise you wouldn't have gotten hurt.

Right so you could fret over me dying like you are now! I avoided people because I didn't want to talk about it! I wanted to just forget it even happened! So excuse me!

[ There's already a tremendous amount of guilt situating itself onto his shoulders for arguing with her. He hates raising his voice like this. It sucks the energy out of him and makes his stomach queasy. ]
