The pamphlet said there was a network on this thing, so I hope this is broadcasting right. [ he rubs at the back of his head with a gloved hand. ] Does anyone have any power tools on hand? That's apparently not something that comes with a complimentary apartment, and I need some to get the suit off.

A ... robot pilot, right? [ she's been peeking at some of the other threads, since she's nosy like that. ] Is that normal, where you come from?

I guess it depends on what you mean by normal. Everybody's used to the Jaegers back home, and we used to have huge crews making sure they work. But there haven't been that many pilots.

It's difficult to become one, then?

[exhort]

Yeah, but probably not for the reasons you're thinking.

Jaegers are too big for just one person to pilot, almost everyone who's tried ended up dying. So you've gotta have a copilot you're compatible with to make it work. That's pretty rare.

What determines compatibility?

[ the more he answers, the more curious she gets, though it occurs to her belatedly that she's probably being a bit rude. ]

It's alright, talking about Jaegers is easier than trying to figure out this place. So if you've got a little bit, I'm okay with answering questions.

But since you're offering... first of all, what exactly is a Jaeger?
