I don't want to be a superhero. What is more: I'm not going to be a superhero. I am perfectly content to work to help reestablish safety in the City, but I won't fight. That is hardly going to help anyone, not in the long term. He cannot expect me to discard everything that I've believed in all my life after he kidnaps me from—

I am not a soldier, and I am not fighting in any man's war, even if it is against crime.

Aw, a bunch of poor saps with their brains screwed on wrong showed up and tried to take the porter or suchlike by force. Well, some people here resisted. Some people resisted so hard they were taking lives. And when that was all said and done, this other guy shows up and decides he's gonna try all of 'em for murder.

Which, as you can no doubt imagine, didn't sit well with the people who were doing the killing. Then one of them got the bright idea that it was a war, and all's fair, and that whole line of crap. Which is about where I came in.

That's a convenient excuse... or it would be, if a war had formally been declared. It sounds like a huge mess, either way.
