001 && [ACCIDENTAL VOICE POST; JAPANESE, TRANSLATED SOMEHOW (SUBTITLED?)]

[sudden staticky exhalation]

Wait a minute, what do you mean "hero"? You can't just go around dragging people away from where they're supposed to be and making them police your city!

[a reply, male, too muffled to make out specific words]

This just… it shouldn't be allowed! Send me back, send me back right now! And don't you look down at me like that! …yes, I know you're six feet tall and I'm not--

Huh? This thing? It's on? What's it even do, anyway? Hey! Owch! Stupid thing!

As a search thing? [[there's some odd sounds of movement before there's a beep and a small, almost startled "aah!"]]

Aah, I'm still not familiar with this! [[he gives a soft laugh that's almost embarrassed]] I'll have to look when I'm not already using it as a phone!

Aaah, it's like a two way radio, like what we're talking over! Only a phone tends to have a shape where you can hold it up to your ear and mouth at the same time.

I think they're around in Meji... I don't quite remember when we started having them... I'm pretty sure there were radios then too. Though I could be wrong! [[laughs softly]] History class never really covers when things like that started being used!

Un, so any Western technology would have gotten there later than anywhere else. We've improved on it a lot since then, and now the West has to catch up to us with it! [[has a bit of pride in his voice]]

It's been really helpful since coming here, since I'm behind a few years from everything, but most of these things were already in Japan before. Even the trains here are behind, some of the above ground ones are probably at the speed you're more used to!

You get used to them. [[you can almost hear the smile in his voice]] And the underground ones too, that's the subway. It's probably the best way to get around here.

They put up a lot of supports, like they do for bridges! And they don't dig out too much of the underground.

Aah, un. I'm not perfect in it, but I've done well enough so far here!

Mm, someone said they were going to start up a group for Japanese speakers, but she hasn't finalized it yet.

I could try and teach you some if you'd like.

Aah, I think it's the larger button, the glowing one.
