[There is an audible crackle of static as the sound comes on. When Ryan begins to speak, it's in the confident, measured, animated voice of someone who is very practiced at speaking for public broadcast.]
Ah, a city. Everywhere you look you can see it: the fruit of man's industry. For what is a city if not a testament to the wills and ingenuity of individuals? One man asks, can I build a taller building? Yes. Another asks, can I build a faster car? Yes. A third, can I build a smarter virus? Yes. All these make a city. The daily push and pull of supply and demand. The indelible tide of progress. The Great Chain that connects us all.
And everywhere you look you can see the parasites. The leeches who suck away at the blood of the city. Weak and pitiful, they do not ask what they can do for themselves, what they can do for the city. Their only question, their constant refrain, is "What can you do for me?"
The parasites do not grip onto the Great Chain. They demand their salvation and safety. They demand such things from you, heroes. They demand it as if they had a right to salvation, to safety, and as if you had an obligation to provide.
And I? What do I say to their demands?
Let them save themselves.
I am Andrew Ryan, and I am here to ask you a question, heroes. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?

I like that answer. And I like the way you think. That's exactly what they were~
I'm glad we have someone here now who has the right idea.

Though, I can imagine when the prevailing philosophy is that of self-sacrifice and martyrdom on the cross of the welfare state that it is difficult to find those who share your beliefs.

Still, having lived it, I could agree with any of that more. I'm Kyosuke Kiryu, by the way. Nice to have you around.
