[Back dated to the last night.

The screen shows nothing but a sea of stars, perfectly clear in the night's sky so it's obvious Jade's outside the city.  The sound of crickets and the rustle of the wind in the grass can be heard.  It's all really, really peaceful.]

Back home I used to stare up at the stars all the time like this.  Just me and Bec.  It was always so peaceful, sometimes I even fell asleep under the stars.  Although I'd always wake up in my bed.  Bec was good about that.  [She gives a small laugh.]

As exciting and interesting as the city is it doesn't have this.  This beautiful view of the stars.

Sometimes I think people really need to just put everything down and get away from it all.  Just relax and stare up at the sky.  Get lost in their thoughts or whatever.

[She reaches over and picks up the camera, giving the viewer a dizzying blurry view of the sky before it settles on her.  Her ears flick back and forth with every sound around her.  She smiles brightly and gives a little wave.]

Everything was so hectic when I arrived so hello again City.  I'm Jade Harley and I've been here almost a week now.  Although, from what I've been told I was here before.  So I'd like to say I'm sorry to anyone I was friends with before.  Sorry that I don't remember any good times we might have had.  But that doesn't mean we can't make new ones.

That was really it.

Oh wait...unrelated but uh, interesting choice of defacement on the moon.

[She sets the comm back down in the grass with the camera pointed skyward.  For a few more moments there's nothing but the sky and the sounds of an ending summer before the feed cuts off.]

I suppose the rest can be pleasant, when one is given opportunity to enjoy it. Personally, I find that occasion rarely dawns.

Maybe people just need to make the opportunity themselves? But I guess it isn't that simple.

Well, not when you have endless obligations whose demands you must meet prior to taking that time. I can't recall the last break I was allowed that wasn't forced on me from outside sources.

[dogwitch]

[Jade scowls.] And when was the last time you had a break forced upon you? [Anyone can see where this going.]

I don't know. Aradia had us throw a party earlier this month, and that was enjoyable enough. Perhaps I can use that to assist myself in sustaining without for another few months.

[dogwitch]

[Just this face.] A few months? That won't do.

[nill remembers the last jade, even if they'd only spoken a few times. she'd figured out by now that this wasn't the same one. so all she can do is smile a little, reintroduce herself.]

The stars are very pretty yes. I did not see them until I came here.

I lived underground. The sky was a wall of cement with lights stuck in it.

Oh. I couldn't imagine not having an open sky above me.

I could not imagine having one. But I do now and I am glad for that.

Well...it didn't back home.

Well back home it just looks like a normal moon. It doesn't have that uh...well what's drawn up there on it.

It is really weird. Apparently the other me was here for a year, if not longer.

That's so strange, that Lachesis can wipe so many memories. And entirely unsettling.

Maybe it isn't so much memories being wiped as some kind of alternate timeline?

The sky is actually a lot nicer when you go out of the City. And you don't even have to go that far out of the City for it. Well, okay, you have to go out several miles, but you don't have to go out of the state.

[She giggles.] I figured that much out John. Although just to be safe I went even further than I probably needed to.

Wait... how far out did you go?

Uh...I'm still in the state.

Okay, I guess that is better than it could be, but still sounds like it could be pretty far away.
