Issun? Where have you gone? You do not seem to be perched atop my head as usual. It seems that I am trapped in this human form here.

This box is rather strange. I don't quite remember what the red-and-gold man said that it was, but that is hardly a primary concern at the moment. What is this made of?

[There is a tapping noise on the communicator]

Certainly not a type of wood that I am familiar with.

[A pause]

I seem to be able to speak into this box. Very well.

To anyone inside this box: Where am I? Is this a demon-spelled Nippon that I have been sent to?

The "box" is a communicator, and allows you to speak with others who possess one. It is not wood, primarily plastics and metals.

I do not know of Nippon, but I have been informed this place is called Earth.

This 'plastic' is a material foreign to me, then.

I am unsure of its whereabouts. Issun usually has a map of Nippon to check, but he's not here right now.

If he has left Nippon in peril, I will have a few choice words with the red-and-gold man sometime soon.

Issun is a small, green man the size of a human thumb that travels atop my head. He is surprisingly audible despite his size.

To be honest, I don't think the 'red-and-gold man' knows what he's doing.

I...whatever. My world doesn't have men the size of thumbs. My best guess is 'alternate universe' or whatever.

We are not in the box - the box is used so our voices and messages can be sent and received over great distances. It is of metal and plastic, as well - as opposed to wood.

This is not Nippon at all, I'm afraid; you've been transported to a place called the city.

A communicator? Ah, so it sends messages faster than the mail-carriers do. That's quite convenient.

And this red and gold man, I assume, has transported others here, from what I have found out so far.

What sort of goal does he hope to accomplish?

It is indeed. Where I come from, we only have messengers as well. It is very nice to be able to not have relay one's message to another person. Here. Communication is instantaneous.

That is correct as well. From what I have gathered, everyone on this network is indeed from somewhere else. It seems that his goal is to save his city due to the sudden disappearance of his own military, but the results appear to be mediocre at best.

Involuntary means have proven ineffective, then?

If people do not have faith in leaders, little is accomplished.

It seems like there is some measure of effectivenes - however, the transporter seems to have very little ability to decide whether to bring a hero or a villain, and a number of people who have come from the transporter have sought to plunge the city into even more chaos.

And what was that now about demon spelling?

Demons. Imps. Tengu and Oni.

They have a tendency to lay out traps for humans like you and I. Cursed doors, invisible barriers and the like.

Those wacky pranksters, huh? Though, most demons I've met were more about the killing and the eating and sometimes wearing of people.

All demons consume in some form or another.

Their destruction ensures the safety of humans.
