The recent monster attacks have once again displayed that my "gift" from the Porter was a useless one. Therefore, I ask: In what other areas does this city find itself in need of service other than through means of brute force?

Aside from that, I would ask for any suggestions on the concealment of a rather inconvenient appendage.

What kind of appendage?

Che.

Paint it to look like the rest of your skin, I guess.

What exactly is this gift the porter gave you? The City is in need of all sorts of people, but knowing what skills you have would probably make for better recommendation.

And...inconvenient appendage? Meaning what exactly?

[identity profile] xf-shatterstar.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Has it been gradually getting higher up your arm, or is it just staying in that one place? It is entirely possible that the onset of your power is evolving in a sense. It would probably be best to hide it with a glove of some sort. That would be easier for outdoors, obviously, since it is cold currently. But you may have to go for a more formal style for indoors, yeah?

Tech is very useful, especially when dealing with Stark. The more you can find out about the communicators, the dog tags, and other form of security would be a start, yeah? I'm sure even the jail could use people in the tech department to help better contain our powered villains.

I would most certainly imagine it would be an inconvenience. I don't suppose you would oppose to pretending it is injured? We could always have someone wrap it up to disguise it as a burn or sprain until we can better find you an appropriate form of clothing for it.

Remember what I told you about people laying low with their motives? As far as I know there aren't people doing such things, but do not take that for fact. Although the jail can always use help, and it is the heroes' of the City responsibility anyhow. Perhaps you should talk to Green Arrow or Flash about a position there?

Well, you could try a mitten.

...that is a very disconcerting gift.

I'm afraid I don't. There are a number of magic-users in the City, however; you may wish to speak to them about it.

Cleverness and patience are always in demand.

An appendage? I know some hexes and obfuscations, but that's too vague a description for me to go by.

[identity profile] deadmanbrucolac.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
I should hope that is not all it granted you. Some boy got the ability to shift the earth itself, a stone hand is no power at all.

[identity profile] deadmanbrucolac.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. What, in particular, are your skill sets, to return to your earlier question? Is there something you would prefer to be doing?

[identity profile] deadmanbrucolac.livejournal.com 2009-02-02 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Useful skills. I have some ideas to run by you, then, and perhaps one of them will spark your interest.

I will begin with the one of greatest potential importance. You will have noted that we are, as a group, a complete fucking mess. There is no more accurate assessment. Some few of us have emerged as leaders and they, myself included, are forming plans to convene an official council of Heroes, to decide on policy and liaise with the government. We will need a powerful force of order to assist us in accomplishing and administering to this effort.

First, there will be an election, to produce the body of the council. Then we will have our first meeting, where policy will be decided. Agreements will need to be drafted amongst ourselves, and with the City itself. We must decide what we are, then we may decide where we are going to go.

We have warriors, war-leaders, businessmen and lords, but some of us know well enough that no city can run without bureaucrats. We must have order to impose order. Does this challenge appeal to you?

Are you not already? Your assistance with the logistical aspects of the future Council of Heroes would be appreciated.

And, of course, compensated.

The body will create itself. I cannot yet tell you what form it will take, because I do not yet know. You cannot dictate this any more than I can. You can, however, begin

We need someone to oversee the distribution of information before and after we meet. To make sure that the minutes are taken, that the records are kept. That arrangements for meeting places have been made, that security teams are talking to one another. All the logistical minutia that needs to be taken care of so that anything can actually be done.

However, this will be a government, not a business. If you are a man who can be bought and sold, then please disregard what I have written above. I have other offers for you.

Do not assume that I wish to control this city. Do not think that I am drumming up some puppet-government. People will only support my ideals so long as they benefit the city in clear ways. I know this very well.

I believe that a critical mass is necessary for any sort of organizational structure. The election is designed to invite the Heroes to become invested in the process and results of forming this government. Raise a sheet and you can sail a ship, no matter which way the wind blows.

Do I think it will be a seamless transition? Fuck no. Do I think it will work? Yes. I think people are hungry for it.

Nor are you. I do not begrudge the questions - there has been too little questioning for my comfort, in this city.

Very good. I will establish contact with the other parties involved at this early stage, so that as we move forward you will have a better sense of who you would be working with, should you find the prospect appealing.

An understandable concern, and one which will be addressed going forward. For now, I will take responsibility for your safety in this matter, and for compensating you for your consultation.

As of this moment, myself and Robin III are the forces behind this push. He is young but intelligent and surprisingly well-trained in leadership, and is well-respected within the community. He will be our public face, at least until we have a body which can decide on formal representatives. I will direct him to you, if he should need assitance in organizing the poll, but I suspect that you will not truly be needed until afterwards.

Some guy calling himself "THE LAW" has suggested we get jobs within the legal system.

Not for me it but it might be for you. As for the hand thing you could always say you had accident and that it's a prosthetic.
