Out of curiosity, how many different sentient species are now inhabiting the City? If you're not a human by birth, what is your species? Similarly, if you don't consider Earth your home, what is your home world like?

I believe we're down to just eight now, including Mr. Kaplan. Though I have yet to meet him in person just yet.

8 out of... maybe 280 imports? It seems like such a small percentage, I expected there to be more. ... Mr. Kaplan?

And we've lost nearly that many just in the time I've been here. Rachel told me our number were much greater only a year ago. It's a shame, too, I think we could thrive in this atmosphere much better than we have been at home. From the Young Avengers, I believe Wiccan is the name he goes by. We've only spoken once, but he seemed to at least suspect that he may be a mutant. I'll only know for sure if I have the opportunity to test him for the X-gene. He said...Wanda was his mother.

Yes. There were several X-Men here when I arrived last summer. Ms. Frost, Canonball, Dazzler, Shadowcat, and others. I'd say mutants made up close to half of the people from our universe here in the City. Wiccan, yes. I've heard the name. I hadn't realized he was in the City. That bit about Wanda is new to me, however.

Makes one wonder what would inspire the Porter to take so many in such a short time. I'd only become aware of Mr. Kaplan's presence nearly two weeks ago, actually. The fact of his parentage was something I hadn't heard, either, but it appears to be a rather complicated matter.

The Porter is a fickle mistress. Who knows, two weeks from now, everyone could be back again. Has anyone asked Pietro about all this?

I couldn't say, but he's apparently staying at the Maximoff residence, so we can take for granted that he's aware of it.

Huh. Well. If he has any insight to share, I'm sure he won't hesitate to let us know.

You don't think he might? It is something of a touchy subject, after all. Should he feel it involves us in some way, especially through any responsibility we might have had, then I certainly think he would share.

I tease the man a lot. I'm hard on him, I know. But it's out of affection and it's out of friendship. I'm not about to press him over his sister and her kids, you know? Not unless he indicates that it's necessary. I have to hope that he will. And if Pietro won't, then his wife will, I'm sure.

Yes, certainly. At present we have no reason to prod other than the curiosity of the situation, I don't think it's a matter of any large concern. Nonetheless, I would like to try to confirm whether Mr. Kaplan is a mutant or not, and do what I can for him from there. If I hear anything that would inspire me to broach the subject with Pietro, I can promise it will be done gently.

I'm glad we're in agreement. :) If it's alright with Mr. Kaplan, I wouldn't mind being kept in the loop regarding his mutant status.

I'll be sure to mention it next time I get the chance to speak to him. I still need to invite him down to the lab, but if he follows his fellow Young Avenger into joining under our banner, it could be information you'd find useful, assuming he's willing to share it.

Having Hawkeye the younger around may be a fine incentive for the boy. I look forward to the chance to work with him. Do keep me me updated, Hank. ;)
