1818 - voice - A typhoon blows back into town

This place AGAIN? I swear I hadn't been back home for more than ten minutes! Oh, Rem, why are the gods of misfortune and poverty always just a step behind me?!! [Whine, whine, whine.] Always I just try to do the right thing but every time it turns into a disaster! And then I get spirited away by some kind of demon computer to this bizarro Earth where total ecological collapse is a matter of decades and not centuries! I musta been real evil in a past life to deserve this!!

So ANYWAY. [Suddenly serious.] Ten minutes ago it was fall, now I look around and it's springtime. I know the Porter doesn't handle time in a sane, logical way. [Sigh.] How long have I been gone this time?

Not really. I spent most of it running away from a pair of pushy reporter chicks.

Probably. I seem to recall mobs with torches and pitchforks, and the living dead and other things like that.

Oh dude that Shatterstar guy is around. He just showed up a little while ago.

That's good. I'd hate to be some old guy no one remembers.

It's... actually pretty good to be back, come to think of it. I probably don't have an apartment anymore, but I have new tags so I can stay in the MAC until something turns up.

The MAC's not so bad. It's free and everything.

Is it still bugged?

The MAC was bugged?

Yeah, there was a big stink about it being bugged. I'm pretty sure I found most of the bugs in my room when I was staying there, but that would have been a long time ago now. They could have been replaced.

Why'd it get bugged? Who ws listening in?

I don't know. I think we all assumed it was the Iron Suit. You know, the guy who claimed to be Tony Stark but turned out to just be a robot?

I feel so old saying that.

That was definitely before I showed up.

Dude, you've been gone a while.

Yeah, in the beginning, we thought it was a version of Tony Stark in the suit. Then we found out there was no one inside. Then we found out it was the computer pulling the strings all along. I didn't know her name was Lachesis, though.
