Tenth Kindness [Video]

[Fluttershy is sitting in the middle of a bare, yet spacious apartment. Those familiar with the alien may recognise it as Killface's apartment. She looks like she's been crying.]

Evilyn Killface is gone. He must've been Ported out when I was back home.

[Sniff]

I never got to say goodbye...

[She stares off for a moment]

Is... is anypony looking for somewhere nice to stay?

[Have a puzzled Vash.] Any... any pony? [For a second Vash's confusion is practically palpable, but then he remembers. Right. Crying girl. Mourning the loss of a friend with an ostentatiously evil name. Also, potential appartment space!]

I mean. Tears don't suit the face of such a lovely lady!

[Fluttershy is startled by the... intensity of the response and drops the communicator. She picks it up a few seconds later.]

I'm sorry! You startled me. I... [She blushes and has to force her wings to not wrap around her again.]

... I guess they don't...

[Whoops! He tones it down a little.]

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! I'm Vash, I just got back here yesterday. What's your name?

[The change in tone does relax her a bit, though she now has trouble looking at the camera.]

I'm Fluttershy.

Are... are you looking for somewhere?

[Blink. W-wait, he's actually not going to get rejected? He doesn't quite know how to deal with this startling development.]

Only if you don't mind! I can see this is a hard time for you so I can give you space if you want!

[She shakes her head.]

I don't mind at all - as long as you don't mind having animals over.

[Yeah, weird.] No, I like animals! Cows, Thomases, cats, dogs... animals!

Uh. When would you like me to move in?

[She blinks] What's a Thomas?

When you're ready is okay - if you want to, of course...

[He's pretty shit at riding on thomasback, actually.] It's a giant bird, that people in my world ride on. We don't have horses. I never got the hang of it.

So, would today be fine? [It's not like he's got any luggage except his rucksack.]

[The mention of thomases gets her attention] Giant riding birds? Like ostriches or bigger? They sound wonderful!

[Then the other half of what he said registers] Yes, today is fine. You can tell me more about thomases then.

I'm at [address]. I hope you're not allergic to cats.

[At this point a black-and-white kitten wanders on screen and pads straight into Fluttershy's lap]

[D'awww.] I'm not allergic. I'll see you shortly.

[Aaaaaaaaannnd maybe half an hour later, there's Vash ringing the doorbell. When Fluttershy answers she'll see Vash in his customary red coat. Funny how the communicator video function never gives a good idea of height. Dude is well over 6 feet tall, and can't help looming. A black cat walks right in the door, bold as brass. She looks over her shoulder and says "NYAAAAAAAAW." Then she resumes her padding into the apartment.]

Uh, sorry about her. She just kind of follows me around.

[Fluttershy is taken aback by just how tall Vash is, but she gives him a smile and lets him - and his cat - inside.]

That's all right - she seems very talkative! What's her name? And how is she with other animals?

[The kitten from before approaches the cat and sniffs it before moving on and checking Vash out.]

She doesn't have a name. She's not really my cat. [Vash makes a face.] She just tends to pop up when I'm around, I think she might secretly be some kind of god.

[He leans down and stage-whispers:] There was a cat that followed me on my homeworld too. I'm convinced it's the same one.

[Kuroneko-sama graciously allows herself to be inspected before trotting back out into the street and disappearing from sight.]
