[When the camera flips on, there's a fair bit of chaos going on. Flashes of a middle-aged woman in a black trench coat can be seen, as well as a column of earth that seems to appear from nowhere and is subsequently kicked into an approaching vampire. Finally things settle down, and the woman glares into the camera with mild irritation.]

I guess law and order is just a suggestion around here.

[She's cut off by another vampire approaching from behind. Her comm is shaky, but it certainly looks like a cable of some sort just shot out of her sleeve, wrapped around the vampire, and hurled it a couple blocks down the street.]

And I bet getting back to Republic City is out of the question. Where are the police?

The police are out on the streets, like the rest of us, as far as I'm aware.

[the cables are shooting out like crazy now, and it's a miracle when the video is anything more than a blurry mess.]

Guess they weren't prepared for this. What are these things?

As often as this happens, we're never prepared. And from what I've been told, they're--monsters. Vampires, if you know what those are, and some kind of hounds.

If you're on the council here, make yourself useful and get more officers on the ground. People are being overrun.

[That miniature look of outrage? That lasts about half a second? It's on his face, before he composes himself again.

The smirk is thinner, the second time around.]

It's almost as if you assume we don't have everyone already expended. Both officers and -- [quirks eyebrow] vigilantes.

[THEY'RE GOING TO BE SUCH FRIENDS.]

[The frame is jittery as anything, but Lin should still be able to get a decent view of a guy in a red-and-blue bodystocking who's multitasking between filming and taking down what looks to be a pack of Hounds.]

Think they're a little busy at the moment, no surprises there -- yikes! [The background whirls around Spidey as he backflips out of the way of a charging Hound, snags it with a webline from behind, and yanks it into the path of another at an appreciable fraction of its running speed. Another beast gets taken down with a splat of webbing to the face and an audible thud that's probably a spin-kick to the jaw off-frame.]

If you're still at the labs I think I can be with you in a minute or -- maybe five? Maybe I should've gone with voice.

I'm doing fine on my own. [It's almost a reflexive statement, but then she looks around and notices all the civilians running for their lives. Her demeanor softens a bit. It must be desperate times when she's willing to let a guy wearing that come to her aid.]

...But I won't turn down reinforcements.

[Whenever he arrives, he'll notice Lin in the street in the middle of a swirling storm of metal cables flying in all directions and entangling foes.]

[Spidey makes his entrance by dropping in from two stories above, killing his momentum with a roll that sweeps several vampires off their feet and into a struggling pile that he fixes into place with a web-net. Then he ducks out of the way of a cable, looking up admiration as it goes over his head.]

Nice to meetcha, whoever you are. But please, tell me you're not from a future where me and Doctor Octopus get married.

[ HAH Who do you think is looking at this, it certainly isn't a human. It's a robot. ]

Oh, here and there, along with everyone else. Doing the same thing you're doing, I'd wager.

[And then he suddenly drops his comm and explodes into a spray of debris, blasting the vampires away.

And then nothing.

And then his head pops out of the ground.]

[Okay, now that takes her by surprise for a second. A vampire almost gets the drop on her, only to realize that she's got a very solid metal collar on. He's whipped away by a cable a second later.]

[ He's trying to sound bored, and actually sounding tense. But there's definitely no sound of battle around him. All of that is muted, behind a wall. ]

You'll want to get off the streets, lady.

[It just continues to sound like pure carnage on her end. Metal scraping against metal and never-ending shouts of anger or pain.]

Kid, I was patrolling the streets before you were born. Sounds like you've found a safe place, though.

[Pause. That voice. It's young, but... why is she hearing it shouting earthbending drills in her mind? And one person already mentioned 'Beifong' sounding familiar...]

[Greg is on his way out of the police building downtown for the... fifth time today? He's been everywhere. His men have been everywhere. His men have been dying everywhere.

He looks tired and unshaven and grumpy.] Detective Investigator Lestrade here. Where do you need help?
