[The video opens with Mordin and Peter smiling at the camera, apparently in a lab of some sort. Given the height difference between them, Mordin is stooping a bit and Peter is kind of on his tiptoes to get them both in frame.]

Have announcement to make. Culmination of joint project. Upgrade to communicators. Could change the way Port-outs are handled.

[Peter rolls a small, penny-sized disc across his knuckles, then catches it between his first two fingers and holds it closer to the camera.]

What we have here is a sensor which, when attached to your communicator --

[He peels a little film off the back of the disc with his fingernail, grabs a comm from offscreen, then sticks the disc to the back of the comm, turning it so viewers can see how it’s attached.]

-- is designed to send out a signal to our computers here at the moment you get exPorted.

Calibrated to particular form of energy emitted by Porter. Very distinct. Records on communicator as well as sending signal. Should eliminate uncertainty after disappearance.

Right. [He nods.] No more worries whether your friend has been sent back to their home or if they’ve vanished off the face of the Earth for, well, an entirely different reason. Or that’s the idea, anyway.

[As Mordin taps his chin:] Of course, can’t entirely account for Lachesis. No way to tell if she’d be able or inclined to sabotage upgrade. More research required.

That’s where you guys come in.

Asking for test volunteers. Would receive upgrade, allow us to see whether sensor works after Port-out.[Pause, blink.] Obviously, don’t hope to see you Ported away. Unless you want to return home. In that case, wish you luck.

[It sounds like Mordin’s getting on a roll, so Peter interjects hastily:] Either way, if you’re interested, speak up in the comments or you can reach us privately through either one of our comms. And thanks for participating in the scientific method. [Yes, he said that in complete earnestness.]

Uh huh, I know Mr Parker from back home. If it's the same one, I mean, what with universes and everything. But it's nice to meet you too, Professor. [ Polite! ] Are you a mutant or an alien? [ ...totally still polite! ]

You know, Spidey wasn't entirely clear on that. But hey, Franklin, it's good to see you again.

[tattling]

Hi! I didn't know if you'd remember me even if you were from the same universe, especially not without Uncle Johnny here. ... Do you take pictures of Spider-Man here, too? Is it the same Spidey as well?!

[oh good lord it's an ignorant fanboy overload]

[He laughs.] Taking it in order: no, not anymore and not here, but yes, the Spider-Man here is the same one as back home. And of course I remember you, kiddo -- what kinda friend-of-Uncle-Johnny's do you take me for?

[Beat.] Then again, considering it's Johnny...

[tattling]

[rueful grin, quickly sidelined by excitement. SPIDER-MAAAN.] --wow, I gotta go patrol more and help him.

Oh! Thanks, Mr Parker. Where's your lab? I'll come visit, and you and your friend can put the penny thing on my communicator.

[Heh.] I'll be sure to let him know. And I've told him all about how the sensors work, so he can explain everything about how it works and even help you customize it with messages and stuff.

Oh, I never heard of Salarians or Sur'kesh before. Amphibian ... that means you can live in and out of water, right? Cool! I'm sorry no one else from your species is here, though.

Ancestors could, very long ago. Still prefer damper climate than most humans. Concern appreciated, but unnecessary- doing just fine without other Salarians around.

Well, if you ever end up in my universe, my mom's got a couple of fish kids staying with us.




[a minute later:] --I know that's not the same thing! I just mean, they've got a pool and all, so the air in that whole area might be okay for ya.

[franklin is still super horrified he might have been species-ist]

Yep. One of the first, at least in my world. [ He's clearly proud of the F4, even if they are a little messed up here in the City. ]

Assume you're not participating with them. Seem rather young to be a vigilante.

Not usually, but... [ he blinks ] I'm totally old enough! I've been a superhero since I was five.

[ franklin that was for about a month and literally involved sleeping most of the time. ]

Lack of training and experience. Danger to yourself and others. Also psychologically harmful. 'Heroes' regularly exposed to death, trauma, suffering. Exposure unhealthy for human children.

[tattling]

[regular preteen pfft at first. WHATEVS, MAN.

But when deathtraumasuffering comes up, and particularly when Solus mentions human -- Franklin frowns, and straightens in his seat. ]
