[ this clip has been showing up on the internet and featured on the news. it's the same clip every time. it starts at a distance at first, lost in a crowd of people-- black bandanas, black flags all marked with the arabic word "kusoof", and the mismatched gear of an army in a struggling country-- before it zooms towards a figure at the head of the crowd.
it's a girl. she's young, and she's got something strong in her eyes-- determination or something from centuries of past lives, who knows. her face might be recognizable to some, past the smudges of dirt and sand, the darkened skin, longer hair, and the black bandana wrapped around her head. she's gesturing out to the gathered army, speaking to them in arabic while a cigarette dwindles in one of her hands. ]
--for us. You are mine. I am you. And the world will know us. So they can decide. Stand with us or stand against us.
[ she turns to directly stare at the camera, pausing only to snuff out her cigarette in the sand. her gaze is hard, lingering before she glances away and she waves someone over, issuing an order. someone closes in on the cameraman. the feed jostles and there's some muffled, frightened protests before he or she is brought to jenny. an exchange is stifled by the desert wind, but the words "go the fuck ahead" can be picked up, and soon the feed is adjusted, focused on jenny properly.
it looks like she has a message. ]
My name is Jennifer Quantum. I'm a lot of fucking things, and I've done a lot of fucking things-- but the things that'll matter to most of the assholes out there is first, I'm an ImPort, and second, Southwest Phoenicia is now mine. Its people, its resources, and its military belong to me.
If that fucking scares you, it should. You thought it was bad when ImPorts were playing heroes and villains in a single fucking city? You don't know the half of what we're capable of.
