Criminals never do take lessons to heart -- not unless they finally see fit to reforming. Our jobs would be a lot easier if it only took a beating to set someone straight.

They were occupied with the mobsters. Next time, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later, I will make sure he's off the streets.

He took offense to that, and then after they accused him of stealing from them, he admitted to it, and that he used it for himself.

[ In HJ's eyes, using mob money for something other than what they intended was really only a step up from being in it themselves. ]

[ Nelson listens and nods after a moment, thinking. ]

The authorities came and gathered them up. By that time, he'd tried to move on, but I followed. No need go let him go free where the rest of them went to prison.

[ A beat, he thought for a few moments, and then, with a note of derision: ] He'd indicated that it was his third strike.

You did the right thing. [ He nods sternly. ] No one else seems to consider him a criminal, even.

No. They're too busy letting him do what he wants.

[ A note of disgust. ] And look what happened. He thinks he can get away with far too much.

Just ignore him for now. He's trying to provoke you.
