Alright. There's obviously no point asking about how to hail a ship that's in orbit two hundred years in the future.

If this is a city of heroes, I'm willing to bet it's also a city of danger. _{( He says that derisively. )} If you were going to rate this place based on how easy it was to get sick, injured--how would it compare to your home ti--that is, world? Are buildings getting knocked down, people getting crazy interdimensional diseases?

I like to know what I'm working with.

It just means that we have to be committed to doing it the right way.

In my experience, Doctor McCoy's are good, at that.

But at least two to run it.

Not that I'm proposing we should be in competition.

Would be counterproductive, wouldn't it.

Precisely. Better to work together towards a common goal.

That, and the race would still be an option. If things got stale.

It's true, science has never really marched so much as it runs, and it's never done so faster than when it's afraid someone else will overtake it.

Like anyone--anything--when you put a deadline on it.

Perhaps, but I like to think there's a difference between leisurely competition and a more desperate sort.

And, the difference'd be there whether you liked it or not.

Well of course, desperation is something that isn't easily faked.
