As the audio begins, anyone with a good ear or paying close attention will notice there isn’t complete radio silence between the time the feed turns on and when a woman begins speaking. There’s a passing wind that lightly filters in through the speaker – and are those wings flapping in the distance? ]

Okay, I get it; Lachesis does not appreciate a hands on approach. Does she really call herself that? I guess she doesn’t get memos, but I thought I washed my hands of this alternate universe mess a while ago and I’m seriously not interested in being apart of it.

The City... that’s original. [ A light scoff. ] Should have stuck with New York.

If anyone from the JSA or the League is—oh. One second. [ The audio cuts for about five minutes before it’s switched back on and Peej sighs. ] That was a close call.

Sorry, as I was saying: All-stars or JSA, Leaguers, Titans, heck even Legionnaires ... this is Power Girl. I think I’ve gotten the gist of the situation, but if there’s anything else I need to be briefed on get in contact with me ASAP.

[ Not that her voice will betray how she really feels, but she really hopes she’s not stuck in another alternate universe by herself again. ]

Well, in my world, it's not really all that necessary. I did more harm than good, so I hung it up. [ He doesn't sound abashed, or upset, just matter-of-fact on it. ] Besides, getting chased by the police constantly gets really old.

Oh. [ A light breeze pushes her hair to flutter about her face for a second. ] That would get old.

Besides, there's more to being a hero than putting on costumes. [ She tugs at the edge of her boob window to emphasize. ] But you must know that. Firefighters, cops, our armed forces, etc...

Yeah, I know it all too well.

It's just not something that really, well, no matter how much you want to do good, sometimes gumption just isn't enough.

Although, sometimes you find your actual calling, if it's not what you're suited for. You sound like the real deal though.

[ Boy aren't they ever! There's a moment where his smile freezes for about .2 seconds. ]

Well, yes, they seemed so, but they aren't here, and you are.

Care to explain how the others who might be here don't fit the term "proper"?

Well, not everyone is going to be as virtuous as some people need to be if they have powers. Some people abuse it, or swing it around like it's as big as their-- [ bad metaphor. ] Well, anyway. Other people just aren't fucking cut out for that line of work.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great people helping out around here.

The problem is that Lachesis calls us all "heroes", but isn't picky. Some people get it into their head to fall into that category, even when they may not be suitable.

Okay, I get the picture. [ Christ, she knows politicians aren't squeaky clean, but this is just awkward. ]

[ Great, this just adds to her problems. People who can't not screw things up. ]

She shouldn't be handing out superpowers, but there's probably no stopping her there. I've seen what happens to everyday people who suddenly have the ability to fly and carry trucks and trust me, it usually doesn't end well.

Is this what Vulcanus has a problem with? That imPorts are abusing their powers?

Not just that, but it's some of it. It's kind of like... well, I noticed it when I was a superhero, but you know how weird crap seems to happen around metahumans. I think that, the power abuse, the fact that we have so much power, and the fact that the porter keeps bringing us in and creating chaos all contributes to why Vulcanus dislikes us.

It's a natural reaction, to fear so much power, especially when everyone's so powerless to stop imports.

People always fearing what they don't understand. [ She nods. ] So us imPorts haven't done a good job in the long run.

[ She doesn't really want to be here, but she can't turn away from trouble... ]

Anything I can do?

Anything you can do to help. Help the people, outreach is vital. We've done a lot at City Hall, but people expect it of us. We can talk and administrate, but people know to expect that from us.

But if we can't show that imports as a whole are actual people who care and want to help, well, they're not going to believe what we're selling.

[ She nods. ]

Any imPort businesses in this City or world? Everybody loves a charitable organization.

There are quite a few, yeah. They do what they can, but I think it's not just that.

Lots of us do our part, but there are lots of people don't, and try and go in the other direction. Even if it's accidental, which happens when superpowers are involved all too often.

I might be in another universe, but I'm not about to let those with superpowers run wild.

But public opinion can't be too bad -- not if their mayor is an imPort.

Well, I wouldn't say that.

When I was elected, Vulcanus wasn't around, trying to force our reputation into the ground.

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we can really only mitigate the damage, not reverse it.

Usually in these situations, it's the only thing you can do. [ She floats down onto the ledge of a building and takes a seat, situating the communicator on her lap. ] I still want to talk to this Vulcanus group. What do we know about them? Bases, members, leaders?

Good luck with that one. They're not very easy to find. If I remember right, some imports found some of their bases, and raided them for information, but there wasn't much there in way of people.

Hell, we've really only seen the spokesperson once, before he tried to send our powers into overdrive. Thankfully, it seemed to hurt them more than it helped them, which makes me think that they're running scared.

They've been quiet lately, but I don't trust it's going to last. Not with them.

You have any idea where these bases and who these people are? They're probably defunct, but I can swoop in and check it out for myself.

Who's their spokesperson?

If I remember right, and don't quote me on this, research on the network is a little tough, but I think it was somewhere in Europe and the Caymans. Maybe somewhere else. [ It's tough when you can't just ask your comm. ]

And as for the spokesperson, I have no clue. He never gave a name. Just said he was with Vulcanus, and that's it.

I'm a fast reader, at least. [ Super speed comes in all forms. ] I'll try and get in contact with the people who discovered these bases.

No, he wasn't on the network. I don't think he'd think we're worthy of being addressed directly.
