I split my time between San Francisco and my father's mansion. It's usually outside of Gotham, but it's one of those extra-dimensional things that are there but not... really.

San Francisco is the most magical city in the United States, at least where I'm from. So I guess it's a given that I have a place there.

You're pretty easy to talk to. Why haven't I talked to you before?

Gotham, huh? I've heard a bit about the town. Remind me to ask you about that place some other time.

I went to San Francisco for a woman. A year later I was back in New York. Ten years later, we're roommates in this place. [A pause. Friendly exes are weird sometimes.] The world can be a strange place. You never know where you'll end up.

I'm usually stuck in the office, bogged down in an unending pile of legal paperwork. Who could foresee that my opening an office in the MAC and volunteering to serve the imPort community would spell the end of all my free time?

There's quite a few people from there in the City, so it's understandable.

[She laughs, a little.] Yeah, I know how that works. Had mine living with me for a while we broke up nearly two decades ago. The world's strange, but that's what makes it so great.

I probably could. A city full of super-powered people is pretty much asking for a guy like you to never have a free moment.

Between work and my hobbies, it's a wonder I have time to sleep.

Hobbies? We talkin' the superhero kind or like, knitting?

You don't want to see anything I've knit, trust me. Needlework, on the other hand...

[A slight chuckle.]

I participate in some extracurricular activities of the non-crafting variety, yes. I enjoy boxing and martial arts, amongst other things.

I've a pretty weird aesthetic, or so I've been told. [She shouldn't be allowed to dress herself, half the time.]

I will take that as "yes, I do sometimes wear spandex," then. I don't, uh. Have a secret identity or anything. Can't beat a name like Zatanna, you know?

Spandex isn't really my thing.

I've heard that name a few times. Good to know I'm not accidentally going out to dinner with someone who considers himself a villain. [Can he tell that from her voice?]

Pretty good nom de plume, if I might say so.

In my experience, the only people who consider Daredevil a villain are villains themselves. [He's trying to sound reassuring to her.]

I wish I could take credit for it. Blame the neighborhood bullies who used to knock me around.

It's a beautiful name. Does it have special meaning?

I'm pretty sure it was something he and my mother concocted before... well, long story. Either way, I've got the alliteration thing going on. My cousin, Zachary, does as well.

Does your middle name start with a Z too?

Actually, I don't have one.

Then I think I got you beat on the alliteration front. Mine's Michael.

Okay, that's actually pretty cool.
