[ The feed opens up to one Kate Kane in an extremely dark and what looks to be an empty room, with quite the dour expression on her face. Her eyes are focused elsewhere for a good thirty seconds. She sniffs loudly, taking a deep breath, and wipes her upper lip with a hand covered in some blood. It’s clear to anyone paying attention to the lack of wounds it’s not hers.

Then she slowly directs her attention to the communicator. Her gaze hardens. ]

You don’t understand. [ Her voice shakes, as if still trying to find the audacity to speak up. ] You still don’t understand.

[ And then she turns the communicator toward Nill. Nill is cowering against a wall. There’s some blood running down her back; one of her wings is bent at an odd angle, obviously snapped at a joint; a bit of bone is sticking out, mixed in with the white feathers, though it’s very apparent where because of the blood soaking the area. There’s a constant stream of tears running down her face, which is contorted in pain. Her entire body is shaking, though she’s doing her best to stop it. She just stares at the camera, pleading. Help me. ]

[ Kate walks over to her, reaching forward to simply touch the broken wing. Nill’s eyes slam shut and her mouth opens in a silent scream. She writhes in agony, trying to get away, but she just ends up pushing her wing against the wall. It’s too much; she falls to her side, unconscious. ]

The one you have in custody, release him. Release him, and no more harm will come to this girl. [ The feed returns to Kate, and her pale skin begins to darken and shift. It continues contorting until the skin is rough looking and a distinct shade of green. ] Twenty-four hours, or I will clip more than her wings. Call off this entire --

[ She stops to take a breath, and her expression softens up a bit. ]

You will see. He still loves you.

[ She cuts the feed. ]

[she's been angrily texting, but she really sounds sad at the moment...this is partially an attempt to soothe kanaya's anger.]

[ but kanaya just punches a hole in the wall, screaming incoherently :c ]

[terezi can't blame her for being upset, she herself has been angrily texting half the people responding and has been hung up on by half of those. it is incredibly frustrating.

but it's her job to keep kanaya stable, so she goes to her and lays a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it quite firmly in the process. she's here, see?]

[ kanaya huffs and puffs, trying to catch her breath and ease her glow as he castsa glance at terezi over her shoulder ]

This can't be allowed to continue.

I know that! But what are we gonna do?

[she moves closer, maybe planning to wrap her arms around her from behind. but she doesn't quite yet, just maintains her grip on kanaya's shoulder and closes the distance between them.]

[ she didn't say anything. there was nothing to say, as she had absolutely no idea how to respond. instead she turned back to the wall and looked at the fresh hole she'd made and felt like an idiot for even making it ]

[ah, now the hugging commences.]

Shhhh, it's gonna be okay.

[it doesn't matter that kanaya isn't actually talking. her speech in particular is not what terezi is shooshing.]

[ and the anger finally gives way to despair as kanaya slams her head against the wall in front of her, and just remains slumped against it wordlessly ]

[terezi spares one arm to try and coax kanaya to get off the wall and lean on her instead. she always hates it when kanaya is violent with herself.]

[she practically croons it.]

[ she doesn't really fight the motion, she's far too tired and hopeless for that, and leans back on the much smaller girl without resistance, but not with a particularly strong amount of joy, either ]

Why?

[good. even though kanaya is a lot bigger than she is and the position is kind of awkward, it's also somewhat soothing for terezi to be in contact like this. and anyway she's more than capable of propping kanaya up.]

Why did I want you to come over here?

[glowsferatu]

I suppose that's what I intended to ask.

[ this whole week has been ridiculous terezi she just can't take it ]

[ kanaya just sighs in frustration. this whole thing is so stupid, why did they have to take nill? ]

This isn't the first occasion on which she's been so taken. There was one previously, shortly prior to your arrival. Feferi was one such victim at the time.
